Looking back over the past 12 months, I’m honestly amazed at how much mYofocUs has evolved.
When I first started teaching, my goal was simple: to help clinicians feel more confident in treating patients with breathing dysfunction, oral dysfunction, tongue ties, myofunctional orthodontics and craniofacial growth issues.
Years ago, while working as the clinical case support dentist for Myobrace, I loved helping clinicians. But I also saw the same pattern over and over again.
I kept seeing the same thing happen. Dentists would do a short course, go home excited to get started, and before long I’d get an email saying, “Dan, can you help me with this case?” or “I’m stuck.”
It wasn’t because they weren’t good dentists. They just needed more support and more education than a couple of days of teaching could provide.
That really changed the way I think about education. It’s hard to become confident in complex treatment over a weekend. A clear pathway is needed, with ongoing mentoring, real clinical experience and a community to lean with.
That’s what I’ve tried to build with mYofocUs, and it’s the reason behind the changes we’ve introduced over the past year.
✨ The Foundation Course
A brand-new interdisciplinary one-day course bringing together dentists, GPs, speech pathologists, chiropractors, osteopaths, ENTs, lactation consultants, naturopaths and many other health professionals to learn from one another. By developing a shared understanding of oral function, breathing, sleep, craniofacial growth and collaborative care, we can build stronger referral networks and achieve better outcomes for our patients.
🎓 The Full Pathway (Foundation + OMT & Tongue Tie + Mini Residency)
A structured educational journey that progressively develops clinicians from the fundamentals through to advanced diagnosis and management, rather than expecting confidence after just a few days of training.
👨⚕️ Clinical Attachment Programs
Delegates can now spend time in clinic observing real patients, treatment planning, myofunctional orthodontics, laser procedures and multidisciplinary care. There is simply no substitute for seeing how everything comes together in everyday practice.
🔬 Laser Tongue Tie Observation Days
Dedicated live surgery days allowing clinicians to observe multiple laser frenectomies, ask questions throughout the day and gain a deeper understanding of patient selection, surgical technique and post-operative care.
🎥 The mYofocUs OMT Video Library
Learning shouldn’t stop when the course finishes. Our growing online subscription library provides ongoing access to OMT videos, so members can continue train their new team members and offer an excellent at-home resources for their during their OMT journey.
🧠 Updated OMT Algorithms
We’ve continued refining our treatment algorithms using lessons learned from thousands of clinical cases, making them clearer, more systematic and easier to apply in practice.
⚡ Neurofun Brain Exercises
We’ve incorporated exciting new neurodevelopmental exercises to further support functional rehabilitation and complement our existing myofunctional protocols.
🌏 The mYofocUs Global Practitioner Network
One of the brand new initiatives I’m most excited about. We’re creating a global directory to help families find clinicians we’ve trained while strengthening collaboration and referrals between practitioners who share similar treatment philosophies and standards of care.
Perhaps what I’m most proud of isn’t any individual course or program.
It’s the community that is growing around them.
Watching dentists, GPs, speech pathologists, chiropractors, osteopaths, ENTs, lactation consultants, naturopaths and many other health professionals learning together has reinforced something I’ve believed for a long time:
No single profession has all the answers.
We have seen that genuine collaboration, respect for each other’s expertise and putting the patient at the centre, makes incredible things happen.
To everyone who has attended a course, joined a study group, trusted us with mentoring, participated in a clinical attachment, shared ideas, referred colleagues or simply encouraged us along the way…
Thank you.
Your support has helped shape what mYofocUs has become, and many of these new initiatives exist because of feedback from our incredible community.
We’re only just getting started.
I’m genuinely excited about what the next 12 months will bring, and I can’t wait to continue building a global community of clinicians committed to changing lives through better breathing, better function and truly collaborative care.
