ABOUT ELK'S GROVE FAMILY DAY CARE
Elk’s Grove Family Day Care is a home-based day care service run by Meghan Phillips, a qualified child care professional of more than 10 years’ experience. The nurturing home setting, with its well-planned play and learning spaces, offers the perfect environment for children to thrive. It is designed according to the Early Years Learning Framework’s core principles of becoming, being and belonging. Children are actively encouraged to explore, interact, discuss and think creatively. Educator-initiated teaching also motivates and engages children in learning. Each child’s activities are tailored to develop their own unique strengths, and they receive a portfolio of their journey with observations, artwork and photographs. Elk’s Grove Family Day Care provides a spacious indoor play-room full of natural light, separate sleep area, and access to a shaded outdoor space. Specific areas are set aside for dramatic play, creative art, literature, sand play, construction and physical development plus experiences such as music, movement and story time.

ABOUT MEGHAN
I’m a passionate and highly experienced child care professional and educator. After receiving my Diploma in Community Services (Welfare) in 2000, and working with children and adults with a disability, I became an Advanced Childcare Worker in 2002. For the next nine years, I worked in community-based long day care. There I gained vital child care, educator and management experience across a wide range of roles, from caring for babies to developing a literacy and school readiness program for 3 to 5 year olds. I also learned invaluable skills in programming for individual children within a play-focused, interest-based learning environment. In June 2011, I had a baby girl of my own which has deepened my understanding of early childhood development and the needs of parents and young children. In 2012, I became a registered educator with Integricare Western Sydney and opened my home as Elk’s Grove Family Day Care.
I believe that it’s vital for children to form secure attachments and strong bonds with significant adults in the early months and years of life. My vision is to provide a safe environment that helps children develop positive relationships, promotes their social and emotional development, and builds their self-esteem. I also believe in fostering children’s creativity by allowing them to see the world in their own imaginative way. As a gentle and responsive educator, I strive to provide a high quality program that builds on each child’s interests and engages them in meaningful play experiences that encourage curiosity, exploration and learning. I’m also passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest research and teaching in my field. I see every child as unique and capable, and I aim to build a relationship with each one based on mutual respect and trust. And because families are children’s most important teachers, I welcome them to participate and share their own ideas and suggestions to improve Elk’s Grove Family Day Care.
