Enhancing teacher practice, elevating student outcomes. This data is then fed back to the classroom teacher through guided personal reflection sessions.

Classroom Profiling is a voluntary process of classroom observation, reflection and personal development based on the 10 Essential Skills for Classroom Management. Observations are conducted by trained staff to capture data on the management of the learning environment through the use of the 10 skills and their subsequent components. Along with the use of comparative data, these reflective session

s allow the teacher to make decisions about their practice with knowledge and make the necessary adjustments to what they do in their teaching.

Great profiling doesn’t stop at training.

This week, Dwayne has been at Proserpine State High School, working with previously trained profilers through two days of Classroom Profiling refresher sessions.

Training people is only the beginning.

Like any professional skill, profiling needs to be used, revisited and calibrated over time. Refresher sessions provide experienced profilers with the opportunity to return to the Framework, work through coding decisions together and strengthen consistency across the team.

For schools that have already invested in Classroom Profiling, maintaining that capability is just as important as building it in the first place.

It was great to see the Proserpine team making the time this week to strengthen the skills they already have and ensure Classroom Profiling continues to be used confidently and consistently within their school.

A big thank you to Proserpine State High School for welcoming Dwayne and for continuing to invest in Classroom Profiling.

Classroom Profiling Level 1 is coming to Hervey Bay!

We’re heading back to the Wide Bay on 1–2 September, with Lead Accredited Facilitator Dwayne Rees facilitating our next Classroom Profiling Level 1 course.

CP Level 1 introduces participants to the Classroom Profiling Framework and develops the skills to conduct structured classroom observations, analyse what is happening in the classroom and provide objective, evidence-based feedback to support teacher reflection and professional growth.

If your school already uses Classroom Profiling, this is also a great opportunity to build the number of trained profilers within your team and strengthen your school’s internal profiling capability.

Classroom Profiling in action at Kingaroy State High School 🙌

Last week, Lead Accredited Facilitator Dwayne Rees spent three days at Kingaroy State High School, working alongside staff through a combination of profiling, co-profiling and reflection.

An important part of the Classroom Profiling process happens after the observation – sitting down together, unpacking the data and using it to support reflection and professional conversation. Dwayne is pictured here with Dan Rujak and Deanna Smith during one of those reflection sessions.

With Kingaroy SHS also home to Classroom Profiling HQ, the visit was a great opportunity for Dwayne to spend some time with Lead AF Janet Thomson and Kellie McNeil, catching up on current work and planning for what’s ahead.

A big thank you to Kingaroy SHS for continuing to support Classroom Profiling, both across the school and as the home of our HQ.

📚 Building instructional expertise at Western Cape College

Western Cape College recently welcomed another group of teachers into the Classroom Profiling community, with staff completing Classroom Profiling Level 1 as part of the college's ongoing commitment to strengthening teaching practice.

Across two engaging days, participants developed the skills to observe, analyse and discuss classroom practice using the Classroom Profiling Framework, building a shared language to support professional reflection, coaching and continuous improvement.

A special congratulations to Kate Salmucci, who facilitated her very first Classroom Profiling Level 1 course as an accredited Classroom Profiling Instructor. Developing in-house expertise like this helps ensure Classroom Profiling continues to grow as an embedded part of professional learning at Western Cape College.

It's fantastic to see schools continuing to invest in evidence-informed professional learning and building their internal capacity to support high-quality teaching. We're excited to follow Western Cape College's Classroom Profiling journey and see the impact this work has across the school.

📍 Supporting schools beyond the initial training

This week, Janet has been working alongside the team at Boyne Island State School , providing tailored support to staff at different stages of their Classroom Profiling journey.

Rather than a standard professional learning program, the week was designed specifically around the school's needs and priorities, reflecting Boyne Island's commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth.

Throughout the week, Janet has delivered:
✅ A Classroom Profiling refresher for existing profilers
✅ Co-profiling with teachers to strengthen confidence and consistency
✅ An Instructor refresher with school Instructor Larissa Raffin

Co-profiling is one of the most valuable ways to build confidence in profiling. Observing together, discussing coding decisions and reflecting on practice helps ensure consistency while deepening understanding of the Classroom Profiling Framework.

Pictured are teachers Larissa Raffin and Aiden Harvey during one of the co-profiling sessions. Their willingness to engage in professional dialogue and reflect on practice exemplified the culture Janet experienced throughout the school.

It was wonderful to see a school so open to sharing its journey, its thinking and the work underpinning its success.

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

Every classroom has expectations.

The difference is whether those expectations are assumed or taught.

Students are far more likely to succeed when they understand what is expected, why it matters and what successful participation looks like. Effective teachers make expectations explicit, model them, provide opportunities to practise them and reinforce them consistently.

Teaching expectations isn't about controlling behaviour. It's about creating the conditions for learning.

Ten years of commitment. Five years with Janet. One remarkable school culture. 👏

This year marks 10 years of Classroom Profiling at Mundubbera State College and five years of working alongside Accredited Facilitator Janet Thomson. Together, this partnership reflects a genuine commitment to professional growth and improving outcomes for students.

Over the past decade, Classroom Profiling has provided the school with a valuable evidence base to inform professional learning, monitor trends over time and support continuous improvement. It is also rewarding to see the school's behaviour data continuing to move in the right direction, reflecting the sustained commitment of staff to strengthening classroom practice and creating positive learning environments.

What makes Mundubbera particularly special is that this commitment extends beyond classroom teachers. School leaders, teachers and Teacher Aides all willingly participate in Classroom Profiling, demonstrating a genuine whole-school approach to strengthening teaching and learning.

It takes courage to invite observation of your practice and a strong culture to sustain that commitment year after year. Mundubbera's ongoing involvement reflects a shared commitment to collaboration, professional growth and continually strengthening teaching practice for the benefit of every student.
