The Julie Grimes Award

The Julie Grimes Award recognises a member who goes beyond simply attending meetings. It celebrates someone who demonstrates what being part of a Toastmasters club is really about.

It recognises commitment to the club, a genuine focus on personal growth and development, and a willingness to give back through service to other members.
It is also about the way we support each other β€” through encouragement, friendship and helping others build their confidence.

Most importantly, the award recognises someone who embodies the values of Toastmasters β€” integrity, respect, service and a commitment to excellence.

Tonight, it is my pleasure to present the Julie Grimes Award to someone who has demonstrated all of these qualities and has made a real contribution to our club and its members.

Congratulations, Shantelle Sherrington. This award is very well deserved.

πŸŽ‰ What a night! πŸŽ‰

We talked, laughed, competed and, most importantly, found the members who will represent South Burnett Toastmasters at the Area Contest in November! πŸ†

Contests aren’t for everyone β€” and that’s absolutely OK! There is no requirement to compete when you join Toastmasters.

But if you are interested, contests are a fantastic way to grow your skills, test your nerves, challenge yourself and have a bit of fun along the way.

Congratulations to our members who will represent us at Area:

🎀 Table Topics: Trev
πŸ“ Evaluation: Orlenna
πŸ˜‚ Humorous: Trev
πŸ† International: Shantelle

A huge congratulations to everyone who competed. Getting up in front of your fellow members and putting yourself out there takes courage, and you should all be proud of yourselves.

And a special thank you to all our wonderful guests who helped make the night a success.

A particularly special mention goes to former Toastmaster Anitta, who joined us as the guest speaker for the Evaluation Contest. Thank you so much for coming back and sharing your story with us β€” it was fantastic to have you there! ❀️

Good luck to Trev, Orlenna and Shantelle as they head to the Area Contest in November. We’ll be cheering you on! πŸ‘

It’s Contest Time! πŸŽ€πŸ†

Once a year, South Burnett Toastmasters holds its Club Contests, where our members compete to determine who will go on to represent our club at the Area Contest later this year.

Join us this Thursday at 7:00pm at the Kingaroy RSL as our contestants put their speaking, evaluation and impromptu speaking skills to the test.

Visitors are very welcome to come along and watch. Please note that this is not a regular club meeting, so there is absolutely no chance that you'll be asked to speak – simply sit back, relax and enjoy the contest atmosphere.

We wish all of our contestants the very best of luck and, most importantly, hope everyone enjoys a fantastic night of learning, laughter and friendly competition.

Did you see the article in a recent issue of Burnett Today?
The photo shows trophies.
The real trophy is the joy in seeing how, with a little bit of help, people taking a more control of their lives, smiling and speaking in a way they were never able to before.

Gain something for yourself and at the same time you give to others. It’s a Win-win situation.

At the next meeting on June 4, you will get a chance to talk about how you love cold winter weather (or not πŸ˜‚).

7pm. Anzac Room. Kingaroy RSL.
