I feel very lucky to have E. mackinlayi in it’s pure species form as most forms of it seen nowadays are the chimera known as ‘Big John’ which gets enormous. I’ve seen it up to 3x4 metres!

It’s a great little plant and one I was pleased to be able to source a couple of years ago from Russell Wait.

After two years it’s .6 x .3 in size and coming into flower nicely. I was lucky to spot a native blue banded bee showing an interest in it today.

I tend to try and pot them up even when they’re quite small. At the first sign of myoporum roots providing there’s some bud growth, even if it’s small, I’ll pot them up. Once out in the sun with regular feeding they take off.
