Public High School For Kilmore Community advocacy for a public highschool in Kilmore

Its not about shouting louder its about speaking together 🩵

We’re united with the Kilmore community behind a clear State Election call: deliver a public secondary school for Kilmore.

Kilmore is Victoria’s largest town without a public secondary school. More than 1,200 secondary school-aged children already live locally, with students travelling to Wallan, Broadford and further afield each day.

Our message to every party and candidate contesting the 2026 Victorian State Election is clear: commit to purchasing the land, designing and constructing the school.

Council is supporting community group Public High School For Kilmore, which is holding a meeting where residents can learn more and add their voice to the campaign.

🕡 6.30pm
📍 John Taylor Room, Kilmore Library

Parents, students, educators and other interested community members are encouraged to attend.

Thank you to Mitchell Shire Council & ongoing support from Timothy Hanson - Mitchell Shire Deputy Mayor. It doesn’t matter what government is elected on November 28th what matters the need for a public high school for Kilmore.

Better public transport. Safer roads. Local schools. Places to stay active. More jobs closer to home.

These are the outcomes our communities are asking for – and Mitchell Shire Council is taking that message to every party and candidate ahead of the 2026 Victorian State Election.

We’ve launched five priorities:

🔹 Beveridge Train Station

🔹 Greenhill Recreation Precinct

🔹 Hilldene Employment Precinct

🔹 Kilmore Bypass

🔹 Kilmore Secondary School

We hear the concerns about long travel times, congestion and essential infrastructure not keeping pace with community needs.

That’s why we’re advocating for practical commitments that will deliver better outcomes across Mitchell Shire.

We’ll also publicly track commitments made by parties and candidates throughout the election campaign.
