NATIONAL SKILLS WEEK // This week (August 24 – 30) we celebrate those industries that build the foundation of Australia.

From carpenters and electricians to our nurses, butchers, bakers, locksmiths, florists, mechanics, early childhood teachers, and landscapers, just to name a few, students from Killarney are provided opportunities to engage with careers across a broad spectrum of industries.

Students at Killarney have access to high-quality Careers education and support to feel successful in their individual career journeys, alongside opportunities provided by the Educational Pathways Program and Regional Industry Education Program.

Killarney Heights High School are the Open Boys Football State Champions!!! ⚽️👏

Our Open Boys Football team were crowned state champions yesterday with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Rose Bay HS in the Combined High Schools knockout grand final. The team knew this was going to be a very touch match with Rose Bay coming off a 6-0 win in the semi final. The boys were pumped before the game and took that energy out on the field showing great determination and enthusiasm to win the ball. Our midfield dominated the first half, controlling the possession and nullifying Rose Bay’s attack. Going forward we looked dangerous and were able to go into half time with a 2-0 lead after two quality finishes and build up play. The opposition came out with more intent in the second half, but our defence weathered the storm to repel them. With ten minutes to go we were able to capitalise on the counterattack to seal the victory with another well taken goal. All players were outstanding and it was a true squad performance. Congratulations to Gabriel D for being player of the final and Nat for being player of the tournament. The boys should be very proud of their performance and their ability to work as a team to achieve this outcome which has meant eight consecutive wins. Congratulations!! 🏆

Last term, our elective 9 and 10 Dance students performed at the Sydney North Dance Festival. The festival showcased talented student dancers from across the Sydney North region, celebrating excellence, creativity, and collaboration in dance education. Our students presented their Core Performance dance work, which they had developed and rehearsed as part of their Term 1 Performance unit. They represented our school beautifully and should be incredibly proud of their achievement.

Congratulations to all our elective Dance students who performed with such confidence, commitment and enthusiasm! 👏

⚽️ WHAT A FINISH! ⚽️
Our Open Boys Football team played in the semi-final of the state-wide knockout competition last week Wednesday and what a game it was!

Things didn’t start as planned, with Killarney conceding in the opening minute. From there, the boys dominated the first half, creating plenty of chances but unable to find the back of the net. Finally, just before half-time, Killarney found the equaliser to make it 1–1.

The second half was a closely fought contest, with both teams creating opportunities but neither able to break the deadlock. That meant extra time and a golden goal finish!

With just two minutes remaining, Killarney found the back of the net to seal a thrilling victory and book their place in the state final!🏆🎉

Congratulations to the team on an incredible effort! We wish them all the very best for the final. Go Killarney! 💙⚽️

A bright bunch of Year 9 students undertook their practice Bronze hike for the Duke of Edinburgh on Thursday last week. 🏕️ With their overnight packs, each group left school with maps and compasses and made their way to Manly Dam. 🗺️ Once there, they set up their tents and made dinner and even built a campfire! 🔥 The next morning, students hiked back to school ready for the weekend! Shoutout to teachers Ms Roper, Mr Willard, Ms Trafford and Ms Murray for their time and efforts! 💪🏻
