Our Living Library: Stories Worth Preserving 📚❤️
The past two weeks have been incredibly special as part of our 100-year celebrations.
We were privileged to welcome 11 old scholars and former staff back to Challa Gardens Primary School to share their memories, stories and experiences with our students as part of our Living Library.
From Reception to Year 6, our students “borrowed” a person instead of a book—listening, asking questions and discovering what school life was like across the decades. They heard stories about uniforms, homework, games, behaviour and so much more!
These conversations brought our school’s history to life in a way that books and photographs simply cannot. Many sessions were recorded and will be preserved in our school archives and future time capsule.
A huge thank you to all our Living Library participants, aged from their 60s through to 91, for generously sharing your memories, laughter and experiences. ❤️
Your stories are now part of Challa Gardens’ history and will help keep our past alive for generations to come.
History lives in people—and we are so grateful you shared yours with us. 🏫✨

What a fantastic turnout we had for our very first Bloom Room Paint & Sip morning!
Who knew we had so many talented artists in our community? It was wonderful to see everyone getting creative, sharing laughs, and enjoying great conversation together.
A big thank you to everyone who came along and made the morning so special. We loved spending time with you all and can't wait to do it again.
Keep an eye out for more community get-togethers and events coming soon!

Congratulations to Sophie Wooffindin from Room 6 and Chantelle Veenvliet from Room 7 on being selected for the Port District state netball team.
Over fifty players from 18 different schools tried out for the team and only 20 were selected. An outstanding achievement!
The girls will participate in a 3-day carnival against the other district teams from 17th-19th June.
Good luck at the carnival, girls. Gooo Challa!! 🏐🔵🟡🔵🟡🏐

Last week, we were honoured to begin Reconciliation week with a meaningful Smoking Ceremony.
Through this important cultural practice, students experienced powerful connection to Country and gained a deeper understanding of Aboriginal culture, traditions and perspectives.
As we celebrate Reconciliation week, we reaffirm our commitment to building respectful relationships, fostering understanding and walking together towards Reconciliation.
