At Gannawarra Shire Children's Centre, we believe that every child has the right to feel a sense of belonging and to participate fully in all aspects of our program. Inclusion is at the heart of quality early childhood education, ensuring that children of all abilities, backgrounds, and developmental needs can learn, play and thrive alongside their peers.

To further strengthen our inclusive practices, we recently applied for funding through the Building Blocks Inclusion stream. This funding will enable us to enhance the safety and accessibility of our learning environments by replacing worn soft fall mats, installing protective pole padding, and purchasing inclusive sensory resources and accessible equipment.

These improvements will support children's physical safety, emotional regulation, independence, and participation , while creating environments that respond to individual needs and promote equitable opportunities for every child. Through this initiative, we continue our commitment to providing welcoming, inclusive spaces where all children are empowered to grow, connect and reach their full potential. By investing in both safety and inclusion, we continue to create environments where every child can experience a strong sense of belonging, participate with confidence, and achieve positive learning outcomes.

This reflects our ongoing commitment to the National Quality Standard, particularly Quality Area 2- Children's Heath and Safety, Quality Area 3- Physical Environment, and Quality Area 5- Relationships with Children, ensuring that all children are supported to learn, grow, and flourish in an environment where diversity is recognised, respected and celebrated.

Thank you Helen for taking the time to apply for this grant, the children are all enjoying the new items purchased.

Xavier and his Australian wildlife animal friends visited our kinders last week and it was so exciting! Children and educators got to learn, see and touch the animals and learn all about them in a hands-on session with WildlifeXposure. Thanks for visiting and we are already looking forward to the next visit.

Last week Kinders students at Kerang South, Gannawarra Children's Centre, Koondrook and Leitchville had WildlifeXposure provide hands on wildlife presentations.

The wildlife incursions featured a sugar glider, barn owl, Australian Shingleback lizard, Eastern long-necked turtle, green tree frog, a very large Black-headed python and a fresh water crocodile.

Presenter Xavier helped the children through touch and interaction to engage with and learn about the animals features, behaviours and needs.

This was an amazing experience for the children and challenged them (and some educators!) to be brave and touch or even hold a crocodile or snake!
