🌍 Cultural Revival in Australia: ALAA’s Incredible Initiative 🌍

Happy to share an exciting milestone for the African Language Academy Australia (ALAA), recently featured in the Zambia Daily Mail on 10/12/2024. ALAA is transforming the lives of young Zambians in Australia by teaching major Zambian languages such as Tonga, Lunda, Nyanja, and Bemba, and extending to Shona and Swahili, helping the diaspora connect with their heritage and embrace their cultural identity.

This initiative aligns beautifully with H.E President Hakainde Hichilema vision of unity through cultural preservation. As the President has emphasized, Zambia’s local languages are not just tools for communication but vibrant expressions of identity, history, and national pride. He encourages Zambians to see diversity as a strength and a testament to the nation’s resilience.

Beyond language lessons, this initiative builds confidence, belonging, and unity within the African diaspora.

With plans to expand its offerings to more African languages, ALAA is ensuring that future generations remain connected to their roots while thriving in a globalised world.

A big thank you to Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia, Dr. Elias Munshya , for recognising ALAA’s impact and reinforcing the importance of safeguarding our heritage.

At Fusion Culture Festival, Mills Park, sponsored by City of Gosnells. We continue to raise awareness of the importance of learning and speaking our mother tongue.

MISSION

At ALAA the mission is:

To teach and coach the next generation and adults to achieve their best in speaking an African language.

We believe language must be taught within its cultural heritage and context.
