As part of our Chicken and Garden Crew Co-curricular program, students have been cultivating an assortment of vegetables and fruits in our sustainable school garden. Throughout their co-curricular classes, the Chicken and Garden Crew have learned the fundamentals of agriculture, science, and personal responsibility.
Today saw their first produce ready for families to enjoy! They harvested a fresh batch of lettuce, which was made available to our families for just $2 a bag at their new market, the Healthy Hills Harvest.

We are delighted to share our students’ achievements beyond Hills Grammar. These students have been busy during the term with some extraordinary accomplishments. If you have any wonderful student achievements, we would love to hear them. Please send them through to [email protected]
Congratulations to the following Hills Originals:
Senior School
Jasper, who formally submitted this paper to the main track of NeurIPS (Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems). NeurIPS is considered the most prestigious and competitive AI conference globally. It is typically the domain of postgraduate researchers and industry professionals, with a rigorous peer-review process and an acceptance rate of less than 20%.
Additionally, he recently competed in the Australian National Olympiad in AI. The competition has two rounds, and he ranked 4th nationally in overall score and is invited to attend the national training later this month.
Pasha, who participated in the 3x3 Hustle Bendigo tournament, a national-level event where teams from all around Australia competed, and his team delivered an outstanding performance, finishing the competition undefeated.
Pasha’s team had previously qualified to compete at Nationals a couple of months ago, and this result is particularly significant as it marked the first time in five years that a New South Wales team won the championship over Victoria in this competition.
It was a highly competitive tournament, and Pasha represented his team very well throughout, contributing positively to their overall success.
Pasha has also been selected for the Hills Hornets representative team again.
Gurjot, who captained an U12 cricket team during Easter to a championship. He played the final with an injured hand and helped the team win a tight final by batting with one hand (see video).
He was also selected for Green Shield development squads for Northern District and Gordon over the break.
Junior School
Rocky, who has published his second book, ‘Figures in the Glass’ - A Collection of Poetry.
Aslan, who has been selected for the Hills Hornets Premier team this year.
Daniel, who entered his first international competition, the Gold International Classical Music Competition (GICMC), and we were delighted to learn that he was awarded 1st Prize.
Earlier this year, Daniel participated in his very first competition, the Inner West Eisteddfod. He was honoured to receive a Highly Commended award.

In particular, from our Junior School, Ethan placed 1st in his age category, Cameron and Luca each placed 2nd in their age category, while Gretchen placed 3rd.
While Sehaj from our Senior School placed 3rd in his age category.
Additionally, congratulations to Chelsea from our Senior School, who travelled abroad alongside her Wanderers Girls team for the 28th International Cordial Cup in Austria recently. Last term, our Senior School Health and Movement Science students completed a Depth study on the management and prevention of sporting injuries. Many focused on two of the most common injuries requiring extensive rehabilitation, including ACL and shoulder instability. As part of their learning, students spent time in our school clinic exploring immediate injury management before visiting Rehab Advantage in Castle Hill. There, physiotherapists guided them through real-world rehabilitation practices and shared insights from their work with elite sporting teams. It was a valuable opportunity for students to connect theory with practice and gain first hand knowledge from industry professionals.

Senior School students spent the day exploring our campus as part of their Geography incursion. Students participated in on-site fieldwork exploring O’Hara’s Creek, catchment processes, and water storage within the school grounds.
We were pleased to welcome back Kathy Jones from Fieldwork Connections, who co-led parts of the program alongside our Geography staff.
The fieldwork activities were designed to support students' understanding of water management and sustainability in our local environment.

This week, the ECEC proudly welcomed a highly anticipated visit from our local Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers, one of our wonderful community neighbours. The excitement was contagious as the children watched the fire truck arrive and were welcomed by a fantastic team of over 10 dedicated firefighters. The visit provided a rich, hands-on learning experience that the children thoroughly enjoyed.
During the visit, the children explored the fire truck and discovered the important tools inside. They used walkie-talkies to communicate just like real firefighters, held the hose and sprayed water under the guidance of the team, and engaged in interactive discussions about fire safety. The RFS volunteers also led a meaningful and engaging safety session, teaching the children essential life skills in a developmentally appropriate way. This included calling 000 in an emergency, the “Stop, Drop, Cover and Roll” technique if clothes catch fire, “Get down low and go, go, go” to safely exit a smoky space, and the importance of not playing with fire.
The children loved actively participating and practicing these important safety strategies, building both their confidence and awareness. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the RFS team for their time, care, and commitment to educating our children in such an engaging and memorable way. Experiences like these strengthen our connection to the community and support our children to become safe, informed, and responsible individuals
