SCENE STUDY MASTERCLASS.

There’s a huge difference between preparing a scene for next week and living with a piece of text for eight weeks.

Our Scene Study Masterclass is about giving actors the time to go deeper.

You’ll sit with larger, more challenging material across the term. Pull the text apart. Explore the circumstances. Build the relationships. Discover the character. Make it personal. Try things, fail, adjust and keep going.

Because technique isn’t something you learn once and move on from.

It’s something you practise and hone over time.

At the end of the term, we take that work out of the classroom and onto camera, filming your scene with an industry DOP.

It’s where true scene study meets the realities of working on set. All that time spent developing the character and understanding the text has somewhere to go, resulting in a professionally filmed scene that represents the work you’ve put in.

For us, this is what training is about.

Not shortcuts. Not chasing a result.

Building technique that can support a long-lasting career.

We might spend a lot of our time coaching, directing and helping other actors with their work, but first and foremost, we’re actors too.

We’re auditioning, taping, getting the no’s, getting the yeses and navigating the same industry as everyone who walks through our doors.

🎬 TWO DAY CINEMATIC INTENSIVE

Two full days. One scene. From the first read to the final take.

Join Brett Archer & Nick Launchbury for an intensive designed to bridge the gap between acting technique, auditioning and actually working in front of the camera.

DAY ONE — THE WORK
Technique. Script analysis. Personalisation. Scene study. Rehearsal. Direction.
We strip the scene back and build a truthful, connected performance from the circumstances.

DAY TWO — THE CAMERA
Audition technique. Self-tapes. On-set workflow. Working under direction. Then we shoot.

This isn’t about simply filming a scene and sending you home with footage. The focus is on how you get there — developing a process you can take into auditions, self-tapes and professional work.

And at the end of the two days, you’ll leave with a professionally filmed cinematic scene you can actually use.

INTENSIVE SCENE STUDY MASTERCLASS

Applications are now open for our next Masterclass with Brett Archer, starting Wednesday 14 October.

This is for actors who want to go deeper.

Rather than racing through new material every week, you’ll spend time living with challenging scenes, pulling them apart and discovering what makes the work truthful, personal and alive.

Led by Brett and grounded in the work of Howard Fine and Uta Hagen, the Masterclass explores:

* In-depth scene study
* Relationship and circumstance
* Objectives, obstacles and actions
* Personalisation and emotional preparation
* Taking direction and making adjustments
* Finding yourself within the character
* Final cinematic filming day

This is a room for actors who are ready to prepare, take risks, play and do the work.

Our next 8-week Technique to Tape term kicks off this October at Prompt Side.

This is for actors who want to keep the acting muscle working. New material. Short turnarounds. On-camera work every week. Detailed direction. No hiding.

Each week you’ll receive a new scene and work through the process of preparing, making it personal, trusting your instincts and bringing your authentic self to foreign circumstances.
