Basser College is part of The Kensington Colleges along with Philip Baxter and Goldstein Colleges. B Basser College is the oldest residential college at UNSW.

We are home to 162 undergraduate students, both males and females. We foster academic excellence as well as countless leadership opportunities. Our student elected leaders manage a jam packed calendar of events that cover cultural, charitable, social and sporting events. Students also share our home with residential fellows (RFs). These staff members live on each of the floors in college and provide academic and pastoral support to all residents.

Some exciting good news stories to keep those spirits buoyed during these difficult times. Basser College fielded two brilliant teams in the 2020 Peter Farrell Cup, a program empowering and equipping UNSW students with the skill-sets necessary to take their ideas to the next level. Congratulations to our budding entrepreneurs: "ZELK" Founders, Zali, Emma, Laurene and Kate for making the finals with their unique approach to dramatically reducing waste and cost in the spreadables industry, along with "EDUKAH" Founders, Adam, Mitch and Will for their great product of matching University Education students with international students to improve individual and community outcomes, while disrupting the volunteer education sector. Both teams did the Basser Family very proud. Good luck to the ZELKers in the finals!! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿฅณ

We were thrilled to welcome David Gonski AC to Basser College for our commencement dinner this term. David is an incredible inspiration to all aspiring leaders and challenged our residents to consider asking the question what you SHOULD do in a particular situation, not just what you CAN do.

Alumni Networking Event - current residents were paired with alumni based on their careers and interests. Our residents found it incredibly beneficial hearing from ex-Basserians, in the first couple of years of their careers, about their pathway through university and beyond.

On Friday, Basser College participated in the 3rd annual UNSWRC Womxn's Day. An exciting day to hear from influential women and celebrate the female identifying students within our community.

We were so excited to welcome Dr Mehreen Faruqi, Kathy Bail, Marieke D'Cruz & Lottie Dalziel to share their insights on their careers, feminism and mentors. The residents then enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with time to reflect on the women that inspire them!

Last week, residents of Basser College were thrilled to hear from Dr Gail Kelly (adjunct professor at UNSW and Former-CEO of Westpac Group) at our Term 2 Commencement Dinner. Gail was an incredible inspiration to all of our residents and was generous in talking to many students from the Business Faculty about her amazing career. It was wonderful to welcome such an amazing role model back to our colleges after two of her children joined us in residence many years ago. Thanks Gail!
