This National Careers Week (11โ17 May 2026), educators across Australia are encouraged to introduce career development early through the โ๐ข ๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ ...โ initiative.
National Careers Week is a nationwide initiative led by the Industry Council of Australia, celebrating the importance of career development and helping people of all ages explore pathways, build skills, and make informed decisions about their futures. It highlights that careers are not just jobs, but lifelong journeys shaped by learning, experiences, and opportunities.
By introducing these ideas early, young people are empowered to recognise their strengths, grow their confidence, and start imagining whatโs possible.
Because career development doesnโt start in secondary school it grows over time through curiosity, identity, interests, and experiences.

Today is International Password Day an important reminder to review and strengthen the passwords that protect your personal and professional information.
Be honestโฆ are you still using the same password from 2012?
Our passwords protect some of the most important parts of our lives from emails, social media to online banking.
Thatโs why today is all about taking a moment to strengthen your digital security and build better habits online.
Cyber threats are always evolving, and weak or reused passwords are still one of the easiest ways for hackers to access personal information.
Here are a few quick wins to protect your online world:
โ
Create long, strong, and unique passwords for every account
โ
Avoid using personal details like birthdays or pet names
โ
Turn on two-factor authentication for extra protection
Taking just a few minutes today can make a big difference in protecting your information tomorrow.

Today we recognise International Firefighters Day and honour the dedication, bravery, and sacrifice of firefighters around the world.
From responding to natural disasters and emergencies to protecting lives, property, and the environment, firefighters step into danger when it matters most. This day also commemorates those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and acknowledges the personal risks firefighters face every day in service to their communities.
This day also raises awareness about fire safety, preparedness, and the importance of supporting emergency services. It encourages communities to recognise the value of training, equipment, and mental health support for firefighters.

On April 28, we recognise the importance of maintaining safe and healthy workplaces and the role this plays in supporting effective, sustainable work practices.
A strong focus on physical safety, mental health, and overall wellbeing helps reduce risk, improve performance, and ensure people can carry out their work safely. This is especially important for apprentices, who may be new to the workplace and learning tasks for the first time.
Providing the right training, supervision, and safety information helps set strong foundations and reinforces safe work habits from the start.
Today is an opportunity to reflect on current practices and reinforce our commitment to identifying hazards, managing risks, and meeting our health and safety obligations so everyone, including apprentices, can return home safely at the end of the day.
Check out our Safety First YouTube videos that support and reinforce key safety messages.

On 25 April, we pause on ANZAC Day to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women past and present.
Itโs a day of reflection, gratitude, and respect. We remember those who served, those who never returned, and the values they stood for: mateship, resilience, courage, and sacrifice.
Lest we forget.

๐ World Creativity & Innovation Day
Creativity is more than ideas - itโs the courage to step beyond whatโs familiar and turn imagination into action.
Observed each year on April 21, this yearโs theme challenges us to "Step Out and Innovateโ by embracing change, exploring new perspectives, and transforming bold thinking into meaningful impact.
Today, we celebrate the thinkers, makers, and problemโsolvers who push boundaries, collaborate with purpose, and reimagine whatโs possible across industries and communities.
Letโs keep stepping out, experimenting, and shaping the future together.
