GENERATIONS OF CONNECTION || One of the most special parts of Old Scholars Week is celebrating the connections to our School that continue long after students leave, and for some families, are passed from one generation to the next.

The Hillman, Driver and Forster families share a remarkable connection to Girton and Pembroke spanning four generations. From treasured memories and shared experiences to seeing a new generation make their own mark on school life today, their story is a beautiful reflection of what it means to remain connected to our community.

As we celebrate Old Scholars Week, weโ€™re delighted to share their story and the memories, pride and hopes for the future that connect four generations of one Pembroke family.

Were the old days really better? ๐ŸŽค Our Old Scholars vs Students Debate brought plenty of laughs, quick thinking and friendly rivalry to Old Scholars Week, as the two teams took on the topic: โ€œThat School was Better in the Old Days.โ€

Representing the affirmative, old scholars Amelia Weston (1999), Professor Rick Sarre (1972) and Sam de Cure (2008) put forward a spirited case for the glory days of school life โ€“ but the students proved to be very tough competition!

After some convincing arguments from both sides, it was the students who ultimately claimed the win. Perhaps school wasnโ€™t better in the old days after allโ€ฆor maybe our old scholars just need a rematch?

Old scholars, over to you โ€“ whatโ€™s one thing you think really WAS better in your school days?

Happy Old Scholars Week! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™ This week, we celebrate the people, memories and connections that make our old scholar community so special.

From the halls of Girton and Kingโ€™s to Pembroke today, generations of students have shared friendships, traditions and experiences that stay with them long after their school days are over.

With more than 17,000 old scholars across 58 countries, our community reaches far beyond the School gates, but this week, weโ€™re bringing it back home.

Hereโ€™s to the memories weโ€™ve made, the friendships that have lasted and the stories still to come!
