Kenmore District Kindergarten

Kenmore District Kindergarten Kenmore District Kindergarten is a not-for-profit community kindergarten. We believe in excellence

This means that any profit that the Kindy makes is directed back into the centre, for the sole benefit of the children to ensure they have access to the highest standard of resources. We believe in excellence in education for each child through play. Learning through play is the most successful way for young children to develop the skills necessary to be lifelong learners, setting them along the r

oad to a well-balanced adult life. We recognise parents and guardians as children’s first and foremost educators and therefore value their contribution to the centre. These opportunities may include sharing skills, cultures and interests in the educational program, attending parent meetings and social functions, being actively involved in fund raising activities and contributing at committee management level. We promote positive partnerships with families through open communication and we recognise and embrace the diversity of everyone in our kindergarten community. We respect nature and our learning environment and encourage sustainable practices throughout the centre. At Kenmore District Kindergarten, we value our links with local schools and our strong connections with our community. We believe in participation in local events and liaise with services and resources to enrich our program. Through reciprocal relationships, we value our learning community and strive for excellence.

Gurumba bigi 👋
Some of our dedicated team spent their Sat investing in professional learning and reconciliation and we wish to thank Black Cockatoo Education for hosting the Yuggera Bus Tour on Country. A great day was spent with the Thompson family from Yuggera Ugarapul, journeying from Queens Park Ipswich to Deebing Creek and on to Purga Cemetery. We were so fortunate to share in experiences such as a smoking ceremony by Jemarah, talk of artefacts found in recent land digs at Deebing, family stories by Aunty Faye and her daughter Sam, haunting songs from John Wayne, and beautiful guitar performances and storytelling through song by Edgar Conlon. And not to forget the extensive historical and language information imparted by Pete from Black Cockatoo.
Thankyou again to all the elders and family members of YUP for sharing your day with us. You have so much cultural knowledge and listening to your connections to Country and stories is valuable beyond measure. Thankyou 🖤💛❤️

"Here is the beehive
But where are the bees?
Hiding away where nobody sees
Watch them come flying out of their hive
One, two, three, four and five!"
We were very fortunate to have Beekeeper Matilda from Teralba Bees visit all our groups this week. She took us on a learning journey about everything to do with Bees, from body parts, the eating habits, male and female hive duties, bee keeper suits and tools and we even got to taste some honey. She taught us about the important role bees play in our environment and how we can be responsible bee watchers and carers.
Through visitors like this, the children at KDK are learning about the natural world around them, observing animals with wonder, discussing lifecycles and developing an understanding of their role as global citizens. 🍯🐝

Our Sports Program began this week! We are so happy to see Kids - Brisbane West back at Kindy this year! The children will work on cricket, baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey and tennis skills over the next 6 weeks, and develop skills such as ball handling, core strength, running, balance and coordination. But it's never just about the physical development. We love Playball because it helps children build the belief that they can tackle challenges, persevere and grow.
"Sometimes the greatest thing a child gains from Playball isn't a new physical skill... It's the confidence to keep trying." Thanks Playball!⚽

Last week we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming some Very Important People to our kindy - the special grown-ups in our children's lives🥰
From morning routines to morning tea and uplighting music lessons, the children were beaming with pride as they shared their kindy world with the people who mean the most to them.
Thank you Special Visitors for being important to our kindy children 💐

The cooler weather today gave us the perfect environment to host Pyjama Day at Kindy💤🌙 and support the wonderful community work of the Pyjama Foundation.

Children and Educators all arrived in their favourite PJs, filling the kindy with smiles, laughter and lots of comfy vibes.
Beyond the fun, days like these help strengthen relationships, encourage conversations and foster a strong sense of belonging, key elements of the National Quality Standard and children's wellbeing.
The children enjoyed relaxing with a movie at rest time, along with fresh popcorn, and we are so glad we could raise money for children living in foster care while having fun at the same time.
