Off to Forgotten Island! 🏝️🎬

✨ Our OOSHies headed to Majestic Cinemas to catch Forgotten Island on the big screen! 🍿 Back at the service, they kept the energy high with a crazy games hut, colouring & building competitions & plenty of outdoor games. It was a day bursting with creativity, friendly rivalry & lots of laughs! 😄

💙 Mixing shared outings with hands-on challenges helps kids stretch their imagination, solve problems & enjoy a little healthy competition.

🧩 Designing builds & bringing colouring pages to life gave the children room to experiment, plan & take pride in their ideas, growing as confident & involved learners in My Time, Our Place.

AO Cup Challenge Day! 🏆

✨ Week 2 kicked off with a bang as OOSHies raced, flipped & stacked their way through a packed day of challenges. They launched paper planes, skipped, built cup towers & sank shots in cup pong, then tested their nerve with bottle flipping, the Post-it Note Shake, balancing challenges & the Landmine Trust Exercise. 🤸‍♀️🥤✈️ A surprise round of hot chips 🍟 gave everyone the boost they needed to keep the fun rolling into the afternoon!

💙 Team games like these help kids build trust, talk to each other & cheer each other on, skills they carry into the classroom & beyond.

🌱 Skipping, balancing & quick-fire physical tasks kept the children moving while they learned to handle a bit of friendly pressure, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children have a strong sense of wellbeing.

Remote Control Arena at Active OOSH! 🎮🏎️

✨ On Friday, our OOSHies took the controls in our remote control arena!

💙 Guiding a remote control vehicle helps kids build hand-eye coordination, focus & patience.

Something Fishy at Active OOSH! 🐠

🌟 After a morning of applying temporary tattoos on the OOSHies, Bronwyn got an offer she couldn't refuse: a tattoo of her own! There was a tiny pause when her little artist asked for her forehead, but Bronwyn chose to embrace her inner kid & said yes. The giggles were hysterical & two minutes later her self-confessed scattered brain had forgotten all about it... until the other educators couldn't keep a straight face while she gave instructions. That's when she remembered she had a fish on her forehead! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

💬 "Can I give you a tattoo Bronwyn?... Can I put it on your forehead?"

💙 When educators join in the fun & laugh at themselves, kids learn they're with grown-ups who are warm, approachable & easy to trust.

Footy Fever Turns Scooter Mayhem at Active OOSH! 🛴

✨ Our OOSHies weren't feeling footy so much today, so we made room for their ideas instead! Scooters came out & OOSHies took on roles as police officers, first aiders & even speed cameras. Next they drew weird & wonderful faces on cardboard boxes, busted out some dance moves & then rage wrecked them, saving a few pieces to build a prison for all the reckless drivers. A team bin run cleared away the well-loved boxes, which turned into a bush walk & some Pac-Man!

💙 Pretend play like this lets kids test out real-world roles, practise teamwork & stretch their imagination.

🧩 With footy already getting two dedicated days these holidays, the children chose to swap the ball for scooters & cardboard. Making space for spontaneous play gives them the chance to invent, build & solve problems together, helping them grow as confident & involved learners, a key outcome of My Time, Our Place.

Day Three Moves at PCYC with Active OOSH Kendall! 🤸

✨ The OOSHies balanced, hopped, jumped, rolled, flipped & hung their way through circuits set out by the PCYC team. Some stations called for teamwork, while others needed agility & single minded focus. At every turn, the OOSHies cheered each other on, celebrated wins & applauded every attempt.

💙 Mixing team tasks with solo challenges helps kids build coordination, resilience & the courage to keep trying.

🦋 We're not just a group of kids, we're a family of friends 🩵 Having mates who back them all the way helped the children feel proud & part of something bigger, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children have a strong sense of identity.

Day Two: Mystery Box Bingo Fun! ✨🩵

✨ Our OOSHies packed the day with a colouring competition, spontaneous birdwatching, an outdoor cafe, lucky dip fishing & the one everyone was waiting for: SLIME THE EDUCATOR! Of course, there was plenty of BINGO too, with our homemade vending machine dropping down a variety of prizes for the OOSHies to take home 🎁

💙 A mix of games, creative play & time outdoors keeps children curious & gives everyone something to love.

🤝 Stopping to spot birds outside let the children follow their curiosity & notice the nature all around them. This supports the My Time, Our Place outcome: children are connected with & contribute to their world.

Day One of Spring Vacation Care: Girls vs Boys! 🏆

✨ When the rain washed out our hydro golf & putt putt plans, our OOSHies turned lemons into lemonade with an epic Girls vs Boys showdown! The girls chose face painting while the boys got busy with box & Lego construction, then both teams went head to head in pool, air hockey, skipping, cartwheels, Lego towers, basketball & volleyball. The girls were way outnumbered but still racked up the most points (plus a bonus point for the best cheerleading) & took out the win! We finished the day with Swim Little Fishies & a special delivery of hot chippies 🍟

💙 Team challenges help children practise cooperation, fair play & cheering each other on.

🌱 Choosing their own team activities & giving every challenge a go kept the children active & helped them adapt when plans changed. This supports the My Time, Our Place outcome: children have a strong sense of wellbeing.

What to pack each day for OOSH:
🧢 Hat: sun safety first!
🍎 A full lunch box: please pack enough for a full day, as we are very active!
💧 A full drink bottle: staying hydrated is important!
👕 A spare change of clothes: just in case we get stuck into some extra messy, creative or adventurous fun! 🎨💦
👟 Closed-in shoes: essential for all activities & for everyone’s safety. Crocs, slides & thongs are a no-go! 🚫
💊 Medication: If your child requires medication, please make sure it is in date, clearly labelled (tablets in a webster pack) & accompanied by the appropriate documentation/authorisation. Please be aware that without the required medication & documentation, your child will not be able to attend OOSH.
😁 A happy smile: the most important item of all!
