School Operational Tuesday 27 May

Dear Parents and Families,
I wanted to let you know that our school will be open Tuesday morning.
The recent weather event has been very difficult and the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is always of the highest importance. If it is safe to do so, please send your children back to school.
Given the current road conditions, such as water over roads, debris, and uncertainty around bridge safety, please check road access and school bus operations in your local area. You are able to check road conditions on the Live Traffic NSW app.
If you cannot travel safely to school or are concerned about your child, please contact our school. We are working with staff to ensure we have as much support available at the school as possible. Our team will provide individual support and access to specialist staff including the school counselling service, as required.

Green Hill Public School Non-operational 26 May

Dear parents and carers,

The recent weather event has been very difficult and the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is always of the highest importance.
Due to the current weather event and localised flooding impacting our community, Green Hill Public School will be non-operational on Monday 26 May 2025.
We request you do not send your children to school.
We are working to get all of our students back into the classroom as soon as possible.
A safety assessment will be made when safe to do so, and we will provide further updates when available.
Call the NSW SES on 132 500 if you need emergency assistance in floods and storms. In a life-threatening emergency, call Triple Zero (000).

There are a range of normal distress responses that your child might display. Staying connected and engaged with your child is one of the best ways to support them.

Dear parents

The safety of students and staff is paramount. Due to uncertainty on the safety of roads/bridges, water over roads and reports of debris blocking roads, the following bus companies have cancelled all services for Tuesday 11 March, including school bus services.

• Cavanagh's: All services cancelled
• Busways Kempsey: All services cancelled

Further advice will be provided tomorrow regarding the status of school bus services for Wednesday 12 March 2025

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred – School open under minimum supervision

Dear parents and carers

Our school will reopen on Tuesday 11 March 2025 for staff and students under a minimum supervision model.

The department has been conducting safety assessments to make sure our school is ready for the safe return of our students.

Many of our staff and students remain affected by road closures and other ex-Tropical Cyclone related impacts. Our school will be operating with minimum supervision until all staff are able to return.

We will communicate with you when we are able to resume operations as usual. We know that the best place for students is in school and learning.

10th March 2025

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred – School likely to reopen Tuesday

Dear parents and carers

Our school will remain non-operational on Monday 10 March so we can assess if it is safe for students to return on Tuesday 11 March after the impacts of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

We request you do not send your children to school on Monday.

The department has staff on the ground conducting safety assessments to make sure it is ready for the safe return of our students. We will provide further advice regarding the potential return to school on Tuesday by 5pm Monday evening. We know that the best place for students is in school and learning.

We want to keep disruption to a minimum, but we must put safety first. We are expected to resume operations on Tuesday 11 March after a safety assessment of the school has been completed unless we provide further updates.

Dear GHPS families and community

Due to potential impacts from Tropical Cyclone (TC) Alfred, including a heightened risk of flash flooding and riverine flooding, our school will remain non-operational on Monday 10 March 2025.

We request you do not send your children to school.

We are expected to resume operations on Tuesday 11 March 2025 unless we provide further updates.

Preparing for Tropical Cyclone Alfred
The NSW SES have asked that families prepare their homes for strong winds, by putting away loose items around their home, trimming trees aways from properties and not parking vehicles under trees or powerlines.
Prepare an emergency kit with essential items including medications, documents, pet food and family photos.
Please stay safe around flooding and road closures. Never drive, walk, ride through, play or swim in flood water, and any avoid unnecessary travel. Floodwater may be deeper or faster flowing than it appears and can contain hidden debris.
