AO Challenge Day! 🏆🔥

✨ The OOSHies teamed up to rack up points across a range of fun challenges, all aiming to put our service on top against other Active OOSH services! 🥇 They tackled:
🏓 Ping Pong Ball Cup Toss
💧 Bottle Flipping
🪢 Skipping Challenge
💣 Land Mine Challenge
✈️ Best Plane Challenge ...& plenty more!
Our educators jumped in too, hurling bean bags in a throwing challenge & busting moves in a hilarious Post-It Note Dance Off! 💃🕺

💪 Never Giving Up

💙 A huge well done to everyone who took part! Winning is great, but teamwork, positive attitudes & sticking at it matter just as much. Team games like these help kids practise cooperation & cheer each other on, skills they carry into the classroom, sports field & friendships.

A Rainy Day Full of Fun & Creativity! 🌧️🎨

✨ The rain washed out our putt putt excursion, but the OOSHies didn’t miss a beat! They swapped the course for an indoor adventure packed with crafts, games & friendly competition:
🎨 Shaping polymer clay earrings & keychains
⛳️ Teeing off on the golf simulator
🖌️ Splashing colour with free painting
🎨 Getting creative with face painting
🧶 Winding colourful wool pom poms
🌈 Designing with melty beads
🪢 Weaving fun scoobies
🎮 Wrapping up with some Nintendo golf

💙 Sometimes the best days don’t go to plan! Hands-on crafts like clay, pom poms & scoobies build fine motor skills & focus, while games bring laughter & teamwork.

🌱 Bouncing back from a cancelled outing & picking from a mix of new activities helps children build resilience & a positive outlook, supporting a strong sense of wellbeing in My Time, Our Place.

Our Educators Took the Plunge! 💦

🌟 Our educators were fantastic sports, volunteering to have buckets of water tipped over them by OOSHies who had shown kindness, helped others & made positive choices throughout the day. 💦🙌 Every educator took a turn, some went back for seconds & one very brave educator signed up for three! 😂👏

💙 When educators happily join the fun to celebrate kind choices, kids learn that their positive behaviour is noticed & valued by adults they trust.

📚 This playful celebration rewarded kindness, helpfulness & good choices through warm educator-child relationships, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children are connected with & contribute to their world.

Colour Run Fun at Active OOSH! 🌈💦

✨ OOSHies raced around a colourful course, tackled a few fun obstacles & got absolutely soaked by the sprinkler, which quickly stole the show! 💦😂 Our educators joined in too & couldn't escape the colour or the water. 😆 It was a splashy afternoon full of laughter, teamwork & memories made together! ❤️🌈

💙 When educators get stuck in & soaked alongside them, kids see play as something everyone shares, building trust & strong bonds.

🌱 Running, weaving through obstacles & cooling off under the sprinkler kept the children active & comfortable in the heat, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children have a strong sense of wellbeing.

NRL Clinic at Active OOSH Kempsey! 🏉

✨ The NRL team dropped in for a morning packed with rugby league fun! OOSHies fired off passes, snapped up catches & lined up kicks for accuracy, even sending a football sailing into a basketball hoop! 🏀 They then dashed through an obstacle course 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ & teamed up for games full of laughs & good sportsmanship. 🤝

💙 Learning from the NRL team gives kids a big confidence boost & shows them how much fun it can be to give a new sport a go.

🌱 Passing, kicking & racing through obstacles built speed, agility & coordination, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children have a strong sense of wellbeing.

Footy Finals Fever at Active OOSH! 🏈

✨ The OOSHies kicked off Footy Finals Day with a morning packed with footy fun:
🎽 Painted their very own jersey key chains in their team's colours, with amazing results
🏈 Played game after game of league tag, with the red team claiming the win over the blue team
🎨 Coloured in their team mascots while chatting about which team they go for & why
🥅 Took on a goal throwing challenge, aiming 3 balls at 5 different scoring holes, with our top scorer racking up 40 points!

💙 Sharing why they love their team gives kids a fun, easy way to open up, find common ground & learn more about each other.

🎤 Chatting about favourite teams over colouring helped the children express their opinions & listen to others' reasons, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children are effective communicators.

Volleyball, Visitors & a Disco on PCYC Day at Active OOSH! 🏐

✨ The OOSHies kicked off the morning with an energetic game of Giant Volleyball before heading to PCYC for a mix of active games & activities. Local police officers dropped by for a special visit, giving the OOSHies a chance to meet them, have a chat & collect some goodies. Later, the music cranked up for a disco, where the OOSHies danced with friends & showed off impressive moves in a big group game of limbo.

💙 Meeting local police officers in a relaxed, friendly setting helps kids see them as approachable helpers in their community.

🤝 Chatting with officers & spending the day at PCYC helped the children build links with the people & places around them, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children are connected with & contribute to their world.

Outdoor Bingo Challenge at Active OOSH! 🌿

✨ The OOSHies grabbed their bingo boards & headed outside, splitting into teams to tick off a mix of creative, active challenges. Some of the tasks included:
🇦🇺 Find something shaped like Australia
🤸 Make a human pyramid
🔤 Find something starting with the letter B
👀 Find something smaller than your hand
🍃 Find a leaf smaller than your finger
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Get the whole team doing 5 star jumps together
⭕ Find something shaped like a circle
Each team scoured the outdoor space as they raced to fill their board.

💙 Hunting for items as a team builds problem solving, creativity & a healthy dose of movement all at once.

🎤 Talking through ideas & agreeing on a plan helped the children practise speaking up & listening to their teammates, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children are effective communicators.

Spin, Win & Discover on Mystery Box Bingo Day at Active OOSH! 🎡

✨ The OOSHies teamed up in groups for bingo, listening carefully & keeping their eyes peeled for every number. Each winner spun the mystery wheel to find out which of our four mystery boxes they'd pick their prize from:
🌀 Fidget Box: 3D-printed octopuses 🐙 & glow-in-the-dark snakes 🐍
😝 Squishy Box: Taba squishies & butter squishies 🧈
🎨 Craft Box: colouring-in books, geodes & crystal-growing kits 💎
😈 Mischief Box: squishy poops 💩, a turkey hat 🦃 & a foot squishy 🦶

💙 Playing bingo in a group helps kids practise concentration & patience, while the wheel spin adds a dose of suspense that keeps everyone on their toes.

Start Your Engines for RC Car Challenge Day at Active OOSH! 🏁

✨ The OOSHies raced RC cars with Jose from Krazy Kars & battled through challenge rounds like RC Car Soccer & Spiders & Bees. They also played Musical Heads or Tails & stacked up some exciting rounds of Giant Jenga. Later on, the OOSHies decorated their very own wooden cars, each with a design all their own. The competition kept going right to the end with Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch!

💙 Swapping between fast paced racing & hands on design helps kids build focus, resilience & the confidence to give new challenges a go.

🦋 Decorating their own cars gave each child a chance to show their personality & feel proud of what they created, aligning with My Time, Our Place: children have a strong sense of identity.

What to pack each day for OOSH:
🧢 Hat: sun safety first!
🍎 A full lunch box: please pack enough for a full day, as we are very active!
💧 A full drink bottle: staying hydrated is important!
👕 A spare change of clothes: just in case we get stuck into some extra messy, creative or adventurous fun! 🎨💦
👟 Closed-in shoes: essential for all activities & for everyone’s safety. Crocs, slides & thongs are a no-go! 🚫
💊 Medication: If your child requires medication, please make sure it is in date, clearly labelled (tablets in a webster pack) & accompanied by the appropriate documentation/authorisation. Please be aware that without the required medication & documentation, your child will not be able to attend OOSH.
😁 A happy smile: the most important item of all!
