The nominees are in, and now it's your students' turn to decide the winner.
The Asia Pacific Young Audience Award offers a rare opportunity for young film lovers near BRISBANE, CAIRNS, GOLD COAST, NAMBOUR to join an exclusive national and international jury, sitting alongside peers from across the region to determine which outstanding film will receive this year's award.
In this year's closed live screening event, jurors will experience three exceptional nominated films from some of the Asia-Pacific's most exciting contemporary filmmakers:
Lost Land by Akio Fujimoto
The President's Cake by Hasan Hadi
Amoeba by Tan Siyou
These are not films you'll find in a typical cinema line-up. Each has earned nomination for its artistic excellence, powerful storytelling and international impact, representing some of the finest youth-focused cinema being produced in our region today. Read more about them in the attachment.
As a jury member, students have the privilege of:
Viewing all three nominated films in an exclusive closed screening
Casting their vote to determine which film wins the laurel
Participating in a LIVE Q&A with the filmmakers themselves, gaining direct insight into their creative process and career journeys
Juries will convene in Cairns, Brisbane, Nambour, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth, Singapore and Brunei, making this a truly international event.
(If you have a student who a lone film nerd in your class, get them to sign up. They’ll meet like-minded peers from other schools and end up following each other on Letterboxd)

The Asia Pacific Young Audience Awards are a partnership between ATOMQld, Essential Screen Skills, and the Asia Pacific Screen Academy, and provide students with the opportunity to engage with incredible films they might never have the opportunity to see again. In an exclusive closed screening, students view the three nominated films, determine the winner through facilitated critical discussions, and at the end of each film, receive an EXCLUSIVE opportunity to speak with the filmmakers themselves!
It really is an opportunity not to be missed!
The event will occur all day on Saturday 29th August! It’s a big day, but it’s an amazing day, and students really value the opportunity to connect with other film lovers like themselves!
This year, Melbourne and Perth juries will join Queensland (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Nambour, Cairns and others TBC) and Brunei!
