Our Social Justice Committee are preparing for the 2026 Mission Australia Winter Sleepout, which will take place on Friday 31 July- Saturday 1 August.
The event raises both awareness and funds for Australians experiencing homelessness, and we would greatly appreciate your support. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps support Mission Australia's important work with vulnerable young people and families.
Over the past two years, our school community has raised close to $14,000 for Mission Australia ( Mission Australia), helping to support Australians experiencing homelessness. We are incredibly proud of what our students and staff have achieved together, and we would love to continue that impact in 2026.

Kelvin Grove State College Weekly Preview
Week 10, Term 2 2026
20/06/2026
In Week 7, we celebrated the conclusion of our High Achievers Program with a Celebration Night.
It was wonderful to see our Year 5 and 6 Kelvin Grove State College students learning alongside students from our City Collective primary schools in extension programs across English, Science, Mathematics, Visual Art, Dance and Digital Technologies.
Programs such as these provide students with an authentic taste of secondary schooling while challenging them to think deeply, collaborate with others and extend their talents.
Thank you to all staff, especially Ms Laurance and Ms Smith, for working hard behind the scenes to make events like this happen.

Over the last few days, we have had a group of protestors standing at the very busy round-a-bout on L'Estrange Tce and Lorimer Tce.
The dancing and waving of placards designed to draw attention presents a danger to our student pedestrians crossing L'Estrange Tce in the mornings. Despite requests from the Leadership Team and College Executive Principal, they have refused to move away from this section of the road. The College supports the right of people to protest, and acknowledges the importance of their cause. We do however prioritise the safety of our students and believe their goals can be met 100m down toward Herston Rd.
This section of road is a 40km/h school zone for a reason. It is an area where students and vehicles share a space at very busy times of the morning.
Can we ask that you do not engage with these people while driving through this busy section of road during the drop off times. Please also speak to your children around taking extra care when crossing, and encouraging walking the extra 100m or so to the supervised crossing near the Junior School.

Students studying Italian recently joined members of Brisbane’s Italian community at Casa Serena. The event brought together people of all ages, highlighting the importance of language, culture and community, while providing students with an authentic opportunity to engage with Italian traditions beyond the classroom.
Through performances, cultural activities and shared celebrations, our students proudly represented KGSC and strengthened connections across generations of Italian Australians.
