🎓🧬 Congratulations to Year 11 student Emily!

Emily received some very exciting news on the night of our Year 11 Semi Formal, finding out that she had been accepted into Harvard Medical School’s Pre-Med College online certificate program!

Beginning in December, Emily will spend two weeks exploring areas including biochemistry, genetics, immunology, pharmacology and physiology, before receiving a certificate of completion issued by Harvard Medical School.

We’re incredibly proud of Emily for earning this opportunity and can’t wait to see where her passion for science takes her next. 🧪✨

🎭 What happens when logic dissolves and the ordinary becomes delightfully unfamiliar? 🌀

Step into [even] Stranger Than Fiction, an intimate black box showcase of six original works devised by our Year 11 Theatre students as they explore Existentialism and the Theatre of the Absurd.

Over six weeks of collaboration, our students have challenged conventions of narrative, character and meaning, creating performances that blur the boundaries between reality and imagination and invite audiences to embrace contradiction rather than resolution.

Come along for an evening of inventive, unexpected and wonderfully absurd theatre. 🎭✨

🧐 In Year 11 TOK, students participated in an escape room to explore the knowledge framework in the arts. Students had to complete puzzles in four different classrooms across the school, racing to be the first to finish them all.

The puzzles included sorting images into what counts as art, brainstorming the methods and tools used to create art, analysing whose perspective is important when determining meaning, and deciding what the limits on artistic freedom should be based on ethics.

The winning group was group 5, who said "this TOK escape room was a brilliant way for us to get an understanding of the IB TOK syllabus at a deeper level, and we won, so we have the most aura."

🔬🧪 National Science Week is happening at QACI!

There’s plenty happening around campus this week as we celebrate National Science Week with a range of hands-on activities, experiments and scientific fun!

🧪 1st Break activities:
🚁 Tuesday: Helicopters with Mr Getto – Level 2
🫧 Wednesday: Bubbles with Ms McNamara – Level 4
🌋 Thursday: Lava with Ms Colosimo – Level 4
🥚 Friday: Egg Drop with Mr Bacon – Level 2

🎬 SCINEMA Film Screenings are happening every Second Break, Monday–Friday in the QACI Theatre, featuring short films and documentaries exploring a huge range of scientific topics.

🏀☀️⚽️ Sun, Support and Sportsmanship!

Year 10 Gala Day proved to be a blast! QACI athletes truly gave it their all, braving the back to back games and demonstrating good sportsmanship and perseverance.
There was lots of different skill levels throughout the day, but a strong sense of teamwork and lots of cheering carried through and the results truly speak for themselves.

The day ended on a high note, with Volleyball and Basketball teams coming 2nd overall and the Soccer team coming 3rd.

It is always a beautiful feeling to feel apart of a team, but to see everyone contributing to that strong sense of QACI culture is what makes these opportunities so special. We may be a creative industries campus but these athletes successfully proved that QACI indeed does do sport!

As always, a big thanks goes to Mrs Jennings and all the teachers and Year 11’s who accompanied the students.

🎬🔬 Science meets the big screen at QACI!

To celebrate National Science Week, we’re hosting our very own SCINEMA Film Screening in the QACI Theatre this week!

From Monday to Friday during Second Break, students can drop into the theatre to watch a selection of short films and documentaries exploring fascinating scientific topics, from quantum physics and sleep science to First Nations knowledge, climate, food security, plant biology, water scarcity and more. 🌏🧬🎞️

Each day features a different selection of films, so there’s plenty to discover throughout the week.

🎪💙 Step Right Up! – The Final Bow

Act 2 brought Step Right Up! to its spectacular conclusion, with our dancers taking their final bows after an incredible one-night showcase.

For our Year 12 Dance students, Amy, Anouk, Lily, Rachael, Rosa and Zara, this was especially significant: their final Dance showcase at QACI! After years of creating, performing and growing as artists, it was a fitting way to take their final showcase bow on the QACI stage. 🌟

A huge congratulations to all our Year 10, 11 and 12 dancers for an incredible performance.

And a very special thank you to Ms Oliver and Ms Collyer for guiding and supporting our students throughout the creative process, and to our fantastic tech team for bringing the showcase to life behind the scenes. 👏✨

The creativity continued as Step Right Up! moved from the final performances of Act 1 into Act 2.

Our Year 10, 11 and 12 students brought their student-created works to life in a fantastic showcase of QACI Dance. 🎪💙
