REUNION Each year a group of Old Boys who attended Scots in the early 1980s, when it was an all-boys school, gather in Sydney for a reunion, and they did so again last weekend. The photographer apologises for not taking more pictures. There was quite a lot to catch up on!

Shared from the Kinross-Wolaroi page. George Charlton taught English and History at The Scots School 1980-1981. He was also involved in the Cadet unit, was an Assistant Housemaster in The Kennel with Howard Davoll, and of course a Rugby coach as well. George was well known to the Scots community when his Rugby teams from Kinross-Wolaroi played teams from Scots.

Vale George Charlton

The Kinross Wolaroi community is saddened to learn of the passing of former teacher, coach and Head of Boarding, George Charlton.

George was a much-valued member of the School community from the late 1980s until 1998, teaching History and English and contributing enormously to boarding, rugby and Cadets.

During his time at Kinross Wolaroi, George served as a Boarding Housemaster and later Head of Boarding, and took on the challenge of converting Croagh Patrick into a boarding house. He was also a passionate rugby coach, with one of his proudest achievements being coaching the 1st XV to victory. George particularly loved his involvement in Cadets – from camps and bivouacs to the pride he took in seeing the School on parade.

Kinross Wolaroi was a significant part of life for the entire Charlton family, who lived onsite during George’s time at the School. His children Katherine, Anthony and Michael are all former students.

George’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 9 September at 11.00am at Mary MacKillop of the Cross, Warnervale.

We extend our sincere condolences to Katherine, Anthony, Michael and the wider Charlton family, and to the many past and present members of the Kinross Wolaroi community who knew George.
