🌟Market Day Success! 🌟

πŸŒŸπŸ›οΈ The Science Quad was buzzing with excitement at Friday's Year 9 Market Day!

From beautiful bunches of flowers, real plants, and designer lanterns to custom hairbrushes, tarot readings, rock painting, a push-up competition, soccer games, live music from our upper school students, and more! There was something for everyone to enjoy.

The event was a fantastic showcase of our students' creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit. It was wonderful to see students engaging with customers, promoting their products and services, and experiencing the success of bringing their ideas to life.

The energy throughout the day was incredible, and the pride, confidence, and enthusiasm on display were a true reflection of the hard work our students had put into their projects.

πŸ‘ Congratulations to all of our Year 9 students for creating such a vibrant and successful event, and thank you to everyone who came along to support them.

🌟 From Ideas to Innovation: Our Students Took Centre Stage! 🌟

πŸ’‘ What happens when students are given a real-world problem and the opportunity to create solutions? Amazing things.

Our recent Future Anything Showcase was more than just an exhibition of projects. It was an opportunity for students to develop the skills that will serve them well beyond school: creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, communication, resilience, and problem-solving.

From Year 7 to Year 10, students confidently shared their ideas with parents, staff, and visitors, explaining their thinking, presenting prototypes, pitching business concepts, and tackling some of the world's biggest challenges.

🌎 Year 7 students explored Climate Change and Water Security through a Shark Tank-style challenge.

🌱 Year 8 students designed innovative solutions to natural and geomorphic disaster challenges.

πŸ’Ό Year 9 students brought entrepreneurial ideas to life through Market Boss, pitching products and business concepts.

πŸ™οΈ Year 10 students tackled urban design challenges linked to the Sustainable Development Goals, demonstrating thoughtful and sophisticated solutions for the future.

What stood out most was seeing students grow in confidence and independence as they proudly shared their work with an authentic audience. They researched, collaborated, adapted, created, and presented with professionalism and enthusiasm.

We are incredibly proud of our students and the way they embraced the challenge. The Future Anything Showcase highlighted not only their impressive ideas, but also the valuable skills they are developing as future innovators, leaders, and problem-solvers. πŸ‘βœ¨

A Visit to Hands on Learning

We were delighted to welcome Senator Sue Lines and MP Matt Keogh to Kelmscott Senior High School for a visit to our Hands on Learning (HoL) Program.

Senator the Hon Sue Lines and Hon Matt Keogh MP spent time with our students and staff, seeing firsthand how HoL provides students with a practical, supportive environment where they can build confidence, develop skills, strengthen relationships and experience success.

From building and creating to gardening, landscaping and working together on real projects, our students are developing valuable skills that extend well beyond the workshop.

It was wonderful to share the impact of this program and showcase the incredible work our students are achieving. A big thank you to both of them for taking time out of their busy schedules to support this opportunity and learn more about Hands on Learning! πŸ‘πŸ”¨πŸŒ±
