Dear GSK Community, welcome to week 9.
We enjoyed a busy week at school last week!
This term, our school is proud to participate in the Archbishop’s annual LifeLink Day initiative. LifeLink Day connects Catholic school communities with local agencies that provide direct, practical care to Western Australians experiencing severe hardship, homelessness, domestic violence, and mental health challenges. On Wednesday, the Year Six Liturgy Team attended the Launch of LifeLink 2026. They were excellent ambassadors for our school and at the assembly next week, they will share an update about the plans for ways that our school can support LifeLink.
A fabulous afternoon was enjoyed by the Year Three class on Thursday afternoon. After weeks of students asking when they were finally going to make ice cream, the big day arrived! Using Waikikamukau Dairy milk, students mixed, measured, shook and froze their way to some very tasty results. There were plenty of sore arms by the end, but thankfully plenty of ice cream too.
The activity linked to learning they have been doing throughout the term. In English, students explored articles, infographics and procedural texts. They then used what they had learned to create their own infographic on Making Ice-Cream without Electricity.
In coordination with STEM learning, in Design and Technology they have been investigating the journey of milk from farm to fridge and exploring how food products are made. Making ice cream gave them a hands-on look at turning ingredients into a finished product and is helping prepare them for our next challenge: designing a healthy smoothie! A big thank you to the Year Three mums who helped out on the day. We hope you enjoy the photos of this fun activity!
On Friday last week, the Year Four class, along with a number of students from the Good Shepherd Parish, attended the First Communion Retreat Day. The children spent the morning at the church preparing for the Sacrament and then returned to school to participate in some First Communion themed activities. We hope you enjoy the photos from the day. Please keep the children in your prayers, as they receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion tomorrow.
On Friday this week, the Year Three class will receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation. The students will spend the day at school, participating in the Reconciliation Retreat Day with the children from the parish and then we will gather at the Good Shepherd Church at 4.00pm for the Sacrament.
We wish the Year Five and Six students well as they participate in the Winter Lightning Carnival this Friday. The students will spend the day playing in a round of football, soccer and netball games. Thank you to the parents who are generously giving of their time to support the teams.
We had a very special visitor come to school on Friday! Thank you to the Ricciardo Family for introducing Larry the Lamb to us! As you can see in the photo - Mrs Glorie was very happy sharing cuddles!!!

Dear GSK Community, welcome to Week 8.
After a very short, three day week, we look forward to returning to our usual 5 day routine this week!
In Kindy, we have our very own worm farm! We collect fruit scraps to feed the worms, and in return, they produce "worm tea"—a powerful, nutrient-rich liquid that helps our plants grow healthy and strong. By selling this worm tea to our school community, we have raised funds to buy native bush tucker plants for our Early Childhood area. So far, our garden features a bush cherry tree, a native plum pine, and baby pigface (which works just like aloe vera to soothe scrapes!). Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our worm farm. Your purchases are helping us create a beautiful, meaningful outdoor learning environment for the children.
On Wednesday this week, the Year Six Liturgy Committee will attend the launch of LifeLink Day. Established in 1999, the LifeLink Day Schools initiative promotes an understanding of the Church's response to people in need within the Perth Archdiocese. It also fosters a sense of responsibility in students toward those less fortunate. When returning to school, the Liturgy Team will share their experience with the students and will plan an opportunity for our school to raise funds to assist the valuable work of the LifeLink Agencies.
Parents and Caregivers are warmly invited to attend the P&F Meeting that will be held in the staffroom at 6.00pm, this Wednesday evening, 10 June.
This Friday, the Year Four class and several students from the parish, will attend the First Communion Retreat Day. Dear GSK Community, welcome to Week 7.
On Friday last week, the Year Six class and several students from the Good Shepherd Parish, gathered at the church for the Confirmation Retreat Day, in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, which was celebrated last night. At the Retreat Day the students had the opportunity to meet the Very Reverend Father Vincent Glynn, who was the celebrant at the mass. Father Vincent helped the candidates to further understand the Sacrament, and he provided some real-life examples of how the Holy Spirit strengthens the faith of the candidates.
In the afternoon the students worked together to create their sashes, which displayed the name of their chosen saint, and were worn at the mass. Thank you to Mrs Bennetts, the Parish Catechist and Miss Cooper for their work in preparing the candidates. The mass was particularly special, thanks to the wonderful singing of the Year Four and Five students who formed the choir for the mass - your singing was superb! Thank you to the families of the choir students for your support.

Dear GSK Community, welcome to Week 2 of Term 2.
Yesterday was Good Shepherd Sunday and last Friday we celebrated the School Feast Day. The name of the school and parish derives from the gospel reading for the day, which is taken from the tenth chapter of John's Gospel, where Christ is described as the "Good Shepherd" who lays down his life for his sheep. The day was celebrated with a whole school liturgy, a Good Shepherd focused buddy activity and an afternoon of tabloid games. It was a happy day of celebration for all.
We look forward to the students returning to school on Tuesday this week, after the public holiday on Monday, to commemorate our ANZAC’s and the sacrifices they made to ensure we can live here in Australia with the freedom we enjoy. When the children return on Tuesday, we will have an ANZAC reflection at 10:30am adjacent to the carpark under the flagpole.
Our annual School Cross Country Carnival will be held this Friday, 1 May. The day will begin at 12.00pm, with our Year 1 and 2 children participating in their races before we break for lunchtime at the usual time of 12:40pm. Following the lunchtime break, we will have the other races from Years 3-6, starting with the Year 3’s as close to 1:20pm as possible and finishing with the Year 6’s to ensure that all races are completed by the normal 3pm bell. Please come along and join us for the afternoon to watch the children compete as we prepare for the Interschool Cross Country Carnival 2 weeks later, on Friday, 15 May.
