Dear GSK Community,
Welcome to Week Seven!
Last week was another busy and exciting one for our school at the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival Congratulations to Year Five students Jolyn and Sebastian, who sang a duet in the Vocal section of the Festival. Their joyful rendition of Count on Me was wonderful, and they should both be very proud of their fabulous performance.
On Friday, the students in Years Three, Four, Five and Six all performed in the Choral section of the Festival and should be incredibly proud of their achievements. The adjudicator was very impressed with the fine performances of all our choirs, reflecting the hard work and dedication the students have put into their preparation. Thank you also to our families for ensuring the students looked so smart and presented themselves beautifully in their uniforms on the day. Your support is greatly appreciated.
The Creative Edge Team brought an exciting week to a close on Saturday morning at Curtin University. The students participated in both an impromptu challenge and a prepared presentation and should be very proud of their excellent efforts in both sections. A big thank you to Miss Guazzelli for her hard work, encouragement and support in preparing the students.
Monday morning will see our school abuzz with the excitement of the Book Week Parade! The students will participate in the parade in the undercover area at 9.00am. Families and friends are warmly invited to come along and join us as we celebrate the joy of reading and books. Younger siblings are also very welcome to dress up and join in the fun!
On Tuesday, the Book Week celebrations will continue, with all classes attending a Book Week incursion — another wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of books and literature.
We wish Year Five student Seth all the very best as he participates in the Speak Up Final on Tuesday. Reaching the final is a wonderful achievement that Seth should be very proud of, and we look forward to another opportunity to celebrate his public speaking talents. Good luck, Seth!
On Wednesday, the Year Three and Five classes will attend an interesting excursion at Kings Park, while the Year Four class will attend the annual Dance Showcase at Lumen Christi College. We hope all classes enjoy their exciting days out.Families are reminded that the URSTRONG Language of Friendship Online Family Workshop will be held this Wednesday evening at 6.30pm. This is a great opportunity for families to spend some time together learning and sharing some important friendship strategies. Please refer to the emails that have been sent to families, which contain the Zoom link to attend the workshop.
Friday will be another busy day, beginning at 7.30am with our Father’s Day Breakfast. Dads, grandads, uncles and other significant men in the lives of our students are warmly invited to join us for breakfast in the undercover area.
During the morning, the students will also have the opportunity to visit the Father’s Day Stall and purchase a special treat for Dad to enjoy on Father’s Day. A big thank you to the hardworking team of parents for coordinating the stall and helping to make this special event possible.
We are also delighted to share that the Year Six class has been invited to perform in the Shield Play-Off for the Most Outstanding Primary Instrumental Ensemble at the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival. The students will visit Trinity College on Friday afternoon for this exciting performance. Congratulations to the class on this wonderful achievement and recognition of their hard work and musical talents. We wish them every success!
Our busy week will conclude with the Year Five Assembly in Ward House at 2.00pm on Friday. We look forward to another wonderful week of learning, celebration and opportunity at GSK.

Welcome to Week Six!
Congratulations to the Good Shepherd Christian Dancers who performed at the Performing Arts Festival last week. Well done to you all for the hard work and dedication you put into preparing for what was a wonderful performance on Tuesday. A very big thank you to Miss Munyard for generously sharing your talents and dance experience with our students. Congratulations are also extended to Annabelle, Finn and Chris, who performed in the Guitar Solo section of the Festival on Thursday. Well done to you all on your wonderful efforts!
A glorious day was enjoyed by our school community on Friday at the annual Athletics Carnival. It was a fantastic day filled with great effort, enthusiasm and wonderful sportsmanship from all of our students. Particular thanks go to our Year Six parents for coordinating an amazing stall that kept the community well fed with tasty treats throughout the day, along with an exciting array of raffles. It was a wonderful fundraiser for the Year Six Graduation, and we sincerely thank everyone involved for their generosity and hard work. Thank you also to Mr Johnson, Mr Throssell and Mr Hansen for the hard work that went into preparing for the carnival and ensuring the day ran so smoothly.
This week, we wish Jolyn and Sebastian well as they perform in the Solo Singing section of the Performing Arts Festival. Friday will also be an exciting day, with our Years Three, Four, Five and Six choirs all performing at the Festival. We wish all of our singers the very best and know they will represent Good Shepherd with pride.
Parents and caregivers are invited to join us for the P&F meeting, that will be held this Wednesday evening, at 6.00pm in the staffroom, everyone is welcome!
We wish the Year Five and Six Creative Edge Challenge students all the best as they participate in the competition at Curtin University on Saturday. Thank you to Miss Guauzzelli for the time and support she has committed to prepare the students.
Finally, our school community sends its very best wishes to Mr Hansen as he begins his well-deserved long service leave this week. We wish him safe travels, wonderful adventures and a relaxing and enjoyable time away from school.

Dear GSK Community,
Welcome to Week Five! It is hard to believe that by the end of this week, we will already be halfway through the term!
We enjoyed another busy week last week, filled with a wonderful variety of activities and celebrations.On Monday, we celebrated NAIDOC Day. The celebrations began with a whole-school liturgy, where Adrian Tanner joined us to deliver a Welcome to Country and play the didgeridoo. This was a thoughtful and meaningful occasion and a very special way to begin our day.
After recess, the students participated in a series of three activities, including a Yarning Circle storytelling session, a First Nations dance experience and an art activity. During the art activity, students worked together to create panels depicting the six Noongar seasons. A big thank you to our Year Six students, who were wonderful assistants throughout the activities, supporting and encouraging our younger students. It was a very special day of learning, celebration and connection.
Congratulations to Jude, Seth and Samayah, who represented our school at the Speak Up Awards on Monday. We are very proud of the effort and confidence you demonstrated in sharing your speeches. A special congratulations to Seth, who has earned a place in the Finals of the competition. What a wonderful achievement – we wish you all the very best, Seth!
Congratulations also to our woodwind and brass students, who performed at the Performing Arts Festival on Tuesday. You worked very hard to prepare for your performances and should feel extremely proud of your achievements.
Our School Band performed at the Festival on Thursday evening. The students were outstanding ambassadors for our school and are to be congratulated on their excellent performance and wonderful success.The busy week drew to a close on Friday when we travelled to the church to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption with our parish community. It was a beautiful and reverent Mass and a lovely way to conclude such a full week.
Thank you to Mrs Clark and Miss C, who coordinated our annual Book Fair. The Fair was a great success, with many families taking the opportunity to browse and purchase books. The week came to a fun conclusion on Friday with the drawing of the Book Fair raffle. One lucky winner from each class will be able to choose a prize from the latest Scholastic catalogue – happy choosing to you all!
This week, we wish our Christian Dancers well as they perform at the Performing Arts Festival on Tuesday, and our guitar soloists as they take to the stage on Thursday. Good luck to you all – we look forward to hearing about your performances!
There is also plenty of excitement building for our School Athletics Carnival, which will take place on Friday. Parents and friends are warmly invited to join us on the oval to cheer on the students for what is sure to be a fantastic day of participation, teamwork and school spirit.
A delicious selection of goodies will also be available for parents and friends to purchase throughout the day, with funds raised supporting our Year Six Graduation. We thank you in advance for your support.

Welcome to Week Four!
We enjoyed a very special morning last Friday when our school community gathered for a liturgy to celebrate the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Guided by Father Kenneth, the students shared some thoughtful insights and responded enthusiastically to his questions. It was a reverent and meaningful celebration as we reflected on the life and legacy of this important Australian Saint.
We also had an exciting week at the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival, with wonderful performances from our Year One and Year Two classes in the Choral Speech section and our Year Six class in the Percussion Ensemble section. Congratulations to all of our students on your outstanding efforts and performances. We are very proud of you!
Our Year Three class was treated to a delightful performance of The Little Mermaid, presented by the talented students of St Brigid’s College and Mazenod College. It was a wonderful morning of entertainment and a great opportunity for our students to experience some of the many opportunities that await them in secondary school.
The students enjoyed exploring the Book Fair last week, and families are warmly invited to visit the Fair this week. It will be open Monday to Wednesday, both before and after school, in the Sacred Space. We hope you have the opportunity to pop in and explore the wonderful selection of books on offer.
We wish Samayah, Jude and Seth all the very best as they prepare to represent our school at the annual Speak Up Awards on Monday. Good luck to you all as you share your wonderful speeches. We know you will represent GSK with pride!
Monday will also be a very special day as we celebrate NAIDOC Day at GSK. Students will participate in a NAIDOC Liturgy at 10.15am in Ward House, and families are warmly invited to join us. Between recess and lunch, students will take part in a range of activities that recognise and celebrate the rich diversity in the cultures of First Nations peoples. We are looking forward to a meaningful day of learning, reflection and celebration.
Another busy week at the Performing Arts Festival lies ahead! We wish our woodwind and brass students well as they perform on Tuesday, along with our school band, who will perform at Newman College on Thursday evening. It is certainly a busy and exciting week of performances, and we wish all of our musicians every success.
The week will draw to a close on Friday, when our classes travel by bus to Good Shepherd Church to join with the Good Shepherd Parish in celebrating the Feast of the Assumption. This will be another special opportunity for our students, staff and parish community to gather together in faith and celebration.
What a busy week ahead, filled with exciting and meaningful opportunities for our students!

Welcome to Week Three – it's hard to believe how quickly the term is flying by!
Congratulations to our talented piano students who performed at the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival on Monday last week. Your hard work, dedication and commitment were evident in your outstanding performances. We are very proud of you all.
This week, we look forward to seeing our Year One and Year Two classes perform in the Choral Speech section of the festival, and our Year Six students perform in the Percussion Ensemble section. We wish all of our performers every success and hope you enjoy these wonderful opportunities to showcase your talents.
Students from Years One to Six thoroughly enjoyed participating in the URSTRONG International Day of Friendship workshops on Thursday. The interactive sessions provided students with valuable opportunities to explore positive friendship skills and strategies, while encouraging them to build and strengthen respectful relationships with others.
A sincere thank you to our Year Six families for hosting the first Farmers' Market of the year. Our community enjoyed a wonderful selection of home-grown produce, and the second-hand children's books were especially popular with the students! We look forward to the next Farmers' Market on Friday, 18 September.
On Tuesday, representatives from St Brigid's College and Mazenod College will visit our senior students to share information about high school life. We thank both schools for providing our students with this valuable opportunity as they begin thinking about the exciting years ahead.
On Thursday, our Year Three students are in for a special treat as they travel to St Brigid's College to enjoy a performance of the school musical, The Little Mermaid. We are sure they will have a wonderful morning.
On Friday, students will have the opportunity to visit the 2026 Book Fair during a special preview session. The Book Fair will be located in the Sacred Space, allowing students to browse the books and create a wish list before purchases begin the following week. Further information will be shared with families later this week.
On Friday, we will gather as a school community to celebrate the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. This special occasion will be marked with a whole-school liturgy at 9.00am in Ward House. We warmly invite our families to join us.

Dear GSK Community,
Welcome to Week Two of Term Three.
Last Thursday, the 2026 Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival officially commenced with the Opening Mass at St Mary's Cathedral. Thank you to Ashley, our Year Six Special Events Team Leader, and Emilio, our Year Six Liturgy Team Leader, who proudly represented our school at the Mass. Ashley and Emilio processed into the Cathedral carrying the Good Shepherd school flag with great pride. Thank you both for being such wonderful ambassadors for our school community.
Tomorrow, our piano soloists will perform at the Festival. We wish each student every success and congratulate them on the dedication, perseverance and hard work they have shown in preparing for their performances. We look forward to hearing about their achievements.
Last Friday was a wonderful day of celebration in our Junior classes as students marked their 100th Day of School! Our classrooms were filled with some very convincing "100-year-olds", and the creativity and effort that went into the costumes was outstanding. Thank you to our staff for organising such a fun and memorable learning experience for the children.
Parents and caregivers are warmly invited to attend the P&F Meeting on Wednesday evening at 6.00 pm in the staffroom. We encourage you to come along, meet other families and be part of the conversation as we continue to strengthen our school community.
This Thursday, our students will participate in the URSTRONG International Day of Friendship. Classes will join an engaging online session that celebrates friendship and reinforces the important skills and understandings students have been developing throughout the year.
On Friday, our Year Six families will host the first Farmers Market for the year. Families will be able to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables and second hand children's books. A sincere thank you to our Year Six families, who have been working hard to prepare this fundraiser in support of the 2026 Year Six Graduation celebrations. The stall will be located at Kiss and Drop after school, with both cash and EFTPOS available.

Welcome to Week One of Term Three!
We hope all families enjoyed a restful holiday break and had the chance to relax and make the most of the beautiful winter sunshine. We look forward to warmly welcoming our students back to school tomorrow.
Term Three promises to be a busy and exciting one. This Thursday, the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival will officially commence with the Opening Mass at St Mary's Cathedral. We are proud that Emilio, our Year Six Liturgy Team Leader, Ashley, our Year Six Special Events Team Leader, and Mrs Newman will represent Good Shepherd at this special celebration. We wish all of our students every success in their upcoming Performing Arts Festival performances. Families are reminded to purchase tickets for performances using the booking links that were shared last term.

Dear GSK Community, welcome to week 11 - something that we don't say very often!!
As we bring Term Two to a close, we look forward to a special evening on Wednesday at the Fathering Project Bunnings and Pizza Night.This will be a new experience for the dads and father figures in our community and one we are really looking forward to, so please RSVP if you are interested, we can accommodate the first 20 families who respond.
Families are advised that Semester One School Reports will be distributed on Wednesday. Students will take home a hard copy of their report and the document can also be accessed via SEQTA.
On Friday this week, the students are invited to wear their pyjamas to school! By bringing in a gold coin donation, our school community will be supporting the important work of LifeLink, to support people in need in the Perth Archdiocese. The students have been working on projects to explore the LifeLink agencies and the important support that they provide in our Perth community.
A reminder to families that tickets for the Performing Arts Festival will be available to purchase online from Friday this week. Please refer to the ticketing links that have been shared.

Dear GSK Community, welcome to Week 10.
Friday was a busy and exciting day at school last week. Our Year 5 and 6 students proudly represented the school at the Winter Lightning Carnival. We extend our sincere thanks to the parents who generously gave their time to support the teams, and to Mr Johnson for his work in coordinating the three teams for the event.The students are to be congratulated on their excellent efforts, positive attitude, and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day. They represented our school with pride and enthusiasm.
While the senior classes were participating in the Winter Lightning Carnival, the Year 3 class and several students from the parish took part in the First Reconciliation Retreat Day.
Later that afternoon, the families of the candidates gathered at the church, where the children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was a thoughtful and meaningful occasion in their faith journey. We extend our sincere thanks to Father Kenneth for his guidance and support in preparing the students and for helping to make this special celebration such a memorable one.

Dear GSK Community, welcome to week 9.
We enjoyed a busy week at school last week!
This term, our school is proud to participate in the Archbishop’s annual LifeLink Day initiative. LifeLink Day connects Catholic school communities with local agencies that provide direct, practical care to Western Australians experiencing severe hardship, homelessness, domestic violence, and mental health challenges. On Wednesday, the Year Six Liturgy Team attended the Launch of LifeLink 2026. They were excellent ambassadors for our school and at the assembly next week, they will share an update about the plans for ways that our school can support LifeLink.
A fabulous afternoon was enjoyed by the Year Three class on Thursday afternoon. After weeks of students asking when they were finally going to make ice cream, the big day arrived! Using Waikikamukau Dairy milk, students mixed, measured, shook and froze their way to some very tasty results. There were plenty of sore arms by the end, but thankfully plenty of ice cream too.
The activity linked to learning they have been doing throughout the term. In English, students explored articles, infographics and procedural texts.They then used what they had learned to create their own infographic on Making Ice-Cream without Electricity.
In coordination with STEM learning, in Design and Technology they have been investigating the journey of milk from farm to fridge and exploring how food products are made. Making ice cream gave them a hands-on look at turning ingredients into a finished product and is helping prepare them for our next challenge: designing a healthy smoothie! A big thank you to the Year Three mums who helped out on the day. We hope you enjoy the photos of this fun activity!
On Friday last week, the Year Four class, along with a number of students from the Good Shepherd Parish, attended the First Communion Retreat Day. The children spent the morning at the church preparing for the Sacrament and then returned to school to participate in some First Communion themed activities. We hope you enjoy the photos from the day. Please keep the children in your prayers, as they receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion tomorrow.
On Friday this week, the Year Three class will receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation. The students will spend the day at school, participating in the Reconciliation Retreat Day with the children from the parish and then we will gather at the Good Shepherd Church at 4.00pm for the Sacrament.
We wish the Year Five and Six students well as they participate in the Winter Lightning Carnival this Friday. The students will spend the day playing in a round of football, soccer and netball games. Thank you to the parents who are generously giving of their time to support the teams.
We had a very special visitor come to school on Friday! Thank you to the Ricciardo Family for introducing Larry the Lamb to us! As you can see in the photo - Mrs Glorie was very happy sharing cuddles!!!
