📚✨ An Incredible Finale to Our Week of Author Visits! ✨📚

What a way to round off an amazing week of celebrating books, stories and the incredible people who create them!

Today, our Stage 3 students had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the wonderful Deborah Abela to our school. 🌟

Stage 3 has been immersed in Deborah's thrilling Grimsdon series and absolutely loved having the opportunity to meet the brilliant mind behind the adventures! The Grimsdon trilogy follows Isabella and her friends through a climate-changed world filled with adventure, danger and extraordinary inventions.

Our students came armed with thoughtful questions and were completely engaged as Deborah shared her experiences as an author, her passion for storytelling and the journey behind creating her unforgettable characters and worlds.

What a truly special experience for our Stage 3 readers — and the perfect way to finish a week filled with laughter, imagination, creativity and a whole Symphony of Stories! 🎶📚

🌟 Spotlight on Learning – 2M 🌟

Money Matters! 💰

2M has been busy exploring the world of money through hands-on learning experiences. Students became little shoppers as they searched through catalogues, selected items, cut them out and identified their prices.

Using practical money materials, students then explored different ways to make each amount, developing their understanding that the same value can be represented in many different ways.

Through this engaging activity, students have been building confidence in recognising coins and notes, counting money and applying their mathematical thinking to real-world situations.

It’s wonderful to see 2M developing their money skills through creativity, collaboration and hands-on problem solving! 🪙

😂📚 When Books Come to Life! 📚😂

Stage 1 had an absolute blast welcoming the hilarious Nat Amoore to our school! 🎉

Nat had our students laughing hysterically as she brought her stories to life with her incredible energy, animated storytelling and infectious sense of humour. 🤣

During her visit, our students got to step into the world of Nat’s stories and become storytellers themselves!

🎄 Year 2 created their very own Christmas version of Nat’s Shower Land series and transformed their ideas into a hilarious play — complete with plenty of laughs!

👦📖 Year 1 put their own spin on I Don’t Need a Little Brother, creating their own versions of the story… and somehow we even ended up with a proposal or two! 💍😂

Nat’s visit was a wonderful celebration of creativity, storytelling, imagination and reading for pleasure. She showed our students that books can make us laugh, inspire us to create and give us the courage to tell our own stories.

🌟 Inspiring Excellence – Meet Miss MacKean 🌟

One of the many things that makes our school special is the passionate teachers who inspire students to be curious, confident and kind every day. This week, we're shining a spotlight on Miss MacKean, who loves helping her Year 2 students grow into independent learners while creating a classroom where curiosity, creativity and strong relationships are celebrated. She believes that learning extends far beyond academics, helping students develop the confidence and life skills they need to thrive.

🌟 What do you learn from your students?

My students remind me to be curious, flexible and to find joy in the small moments. They bring new ideas and perspectives to our learning and their creativity is inspiring.

🤩 What excites you most about teaching your current year group?

I love seeing how curious and enthusiastic Year 2 students are. They are becoming more independent, confident and willing to share their ideas, which makes each day exciting and full of new discoveries. I love seeing them grow!

💛 What is one thing students learn in your classroom besides reading, writing and maths?

There is so much more to school than academics. I teach students how to work with others, solve problems and manage their emotions. I want them to become kind, responsible and confident members of our classroom and the community.

🔬🌿 Science Week: Learning Through Aboriginal Knowledges 🌿🌌

🌱 The future grows from the ideas we plant today! Celebrating National 2026 and this year’s theme, "Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all."

This Science Week, we are celebrating the incredible knowledge that comes from generations of careful observation, connection and care for Country.

As part of our Living Deadly program, our Aboriginal students and friends have been sharing traditional Aboriginal Knowledges with their classmates, stepping into the role of teachers and proudly delivering lessons that they have previously explored with Mr Caleb and Mrs Borazio. ❤️

From exploring Sky Country and the Emu in the Sky, to understanding seasons, animals, food sources and sustainable ways of caring for Country, our students are discovering that science and Aboriginal Knowledges have long been deeply connected. 🌌🪶🌏

One of the highlights has been seeing our Living Deadly students confidently share their knowledge with their peers — demonstrating, explaining, answering questions and helping their classmates understand the deep connections between people, Country, culture and the natural world.

These lessons remind us that Aboriginal Peoples have developed and maintained sophisticated knowledge systems over thousands of years, using careful observation of the land, water and sky to understand and care for Country. 🌿

What a powerful way to celebrate Science Week — by recognising Aboriginal Knowledges, valuing our students as knowledge holders and teachers, and learning together. 💫

On Sunday 16th August our talented dance groups from all stages participated in the Sydney Eisteddfod at the Sydney Opera House.

Our students shone on stage, showcasing their talent, dedication and teamwork in every performance. It was truly a memorable experience for everyone involved. 💫

A huge thank you to our incredible dance teachers for their guidance, support and encouragement, and to all those who assisted on the day to make everything run so smoothly. Your hard work and dedication makes opportunities like this possible for our students. ❤️

A Symphony of laughter with Nathan Luff!🤣

Our students were absolutely thrilled to welcome author Nathan Luff, whose wonderfully witty and hilarious books have become firm favourites with our Stage 2 readers! 🤣📖

In the lead-up to Nathan’s visit, our students got creative with language and storytelling. They:
✏️ Wrote sarcastic letters to the worst parents imaginable
🏖️ Designed book covers for a family holiday disaster
💻 Created comic strips in Canva based on Nerd Herd
😂 And began learning the art of writing puns!

Nathan’s visit was the perfect finale to all that learning. He had the students laughing, listening and completely engaged as he shared how real-life experiences can become the inspiration for funny, relatable and engaging stories.

He also reminded our students of something incredibly important — reading for pleasure is not only beneficial, it’s fun! 📚❤️

What a wonderful way to celebrate Book Week: A Symphony of Stories, while inspiring our students to read, write, create and, most importantly, enjoy the magic of books.

📚🎶 Stories, Music & Little Voices! 🎶📚

What better way to celebrate our upcoming Book Week – A Symphony of Stories, than with a very special visit from author and musician Tina Bangel from Little Voices Academy! 💛

Our little learners were captivated as Tina shared her beautiful book My Lola, taking us on a journey celebrating family, culture and the special people who bring us together.

Our Kindy students then became musicians themselves, creating their very own instruments and exploring the joy of making music.

It was a wonderful morning of storytelling, creativity, culture and music — giving our youngest learners the chance to listen, learn, create and let their little voices shine! ✨

One of the many things that makes our school special is the staff who encourage students to aim high and embrace every opportunity to learn. This week, we're shining a spotlight on Mr Cansino, who is passionate about building a classroom culture founded on respect, where students are supported to learn from mistakes, grow in confidence and continually improve.

🤝 What is one classroom value that is particularly important to you?

One classroom value that is particularly important to me is respecting others. Respect is the foundation of a positive classroom because it shapes how we treat those around us. When students show respect by listening, using kind words and accepting different opinions, it becomes easier for everyone to learn and work together.

🌟 What is something students often discover about themselves in your classroom?

That it's okay to make mistakes because every mistake is an opportunity to learn, grow and improve.
