🌟 Inspiring Excellence – Meet Mrs Griffiths 🌟

One of the many things that makes our school special is the dedication of our teachers to supporting students as they grow and learn. This week, we're shining a spotlight on Mrs Griffiths, who enjoys the unique experience of teaching Kindergarten and witnessing the incredible growth that takes place throughout a child's first year of school. From first words and letters to new discoveries and growing confidence, she values creating a classroom where every student feels supported and knows they belong.

🤩 What excites you most about teaching your current year group?

I love teaching Kindergarten! It is full of spontaneous hugs, funny stories and heartfelt drawings that brighten your day. I love the pure enthusiasm five- and six-year-olds approach the world with and how genuinely excited they get about anything they discover. This age group also speaks their mind with total honesty, which can be both hilarious and quite confronting at times!

Kindergarten sees the most change and growth throughout the year. You get to watch their determination as they read their first words, write their first letters and count higher and higher, becoming confident little learners who are curious about the world around them. No two days are ever the same!

🌱 What do you hope students gain from being in your class this year?

I hope my students understand that each and every one of them is special in their own unique way and can do anything they put their minds to. I hope they remember that mistakes are OK because that is how we all learn, and continue to support each other by sharing their skills so we can all do our best and improve.

💛 We appreciate the important role Mrs Griffiths plays in supporting our youngest learners as they develop confidence, independence and a strong foundation for their learning journey.

🌟 Spotlight on Learning – KG 🎨

Super Sunflowers! 🌻

KG absolutely love art and craft, and this term they have been exploring the wonderful world of printmaking!

After researching artists and experimenting with different artistic techniques, students learned how prints can be created in different ways. Inspired by their Science learning about plants, KG used two printing techniques to create their very own vibrant sunflowers. 🌻

Students created textured prints using leaves and paint to build their sunflower petals, carefully using the positions on a clock to help arrange their petals evenly. They then explored monoprinting, using paint, paintbrushes and paddle pop sticks to create their stems and leaves before transferring their designs onto paper.

The classroom was filled with creativity, experimentation and plenty of excitement as students lifted their prints to reveal their finished artworks!

We absolutely loved seeing KG explore how art, science and creativity can come together to create something special. Our super sunflowers are certainly something to be proud of! 🌻🎨✨

🌟 Inspiring Excellence – Meet Mr Prasad 🌟

One of the many things that makes our school special is the wonderful staff who make a positive difference in the lives of our students every day. This week, we're shining a spotlight on Mr Prasad, whose calm, gentle and encouraging approach creates a classroom where students feel supported to have a go, learn from their mistakes and believe in themselves. As a positive male role model, Mr Prasad shows students the importance of kindness, respect, honesty and always striving to be your best.

🌟 Spotlight on Learning – 2P 📏🎨🌿
Measuring, Creating and Connecting!

There has been plenty of hands-on learning happening in 2P! Students have been putting their maths skills into action by measuring objects around their classroom, investigating which items are 1 metre or longer and developing their understanding of length through real-world experiences. 📏

🎨 In Art, students have been designing Seasonal Trees, using colour and creativity to capture the changing seasons. This learning has also connected beautifully with their Science unit on weather, helping students make links between subjects and the world around them.

👷 Earlier this week, Year 2 also welcomed community workers into the school. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about their roles and responsibilities before recording the answers on their interview sheets. This provided a wonderful opportunity to develop their questioning, listening and recording skills while learning more about the people who help our community.

What a fantastic mix of measuring, creating, questioning and discovering in 2P! 🌟📚

🌟 Inspiring Excellence – Meet Mrs Albano 🌟

One of the many things that makes our school special is the passionate teachers who encourage students to be creative, embrace challenges and take pride in their learning. This week, we're shining a spotlight on Mrs Albano, who brings creativity and encouragement into the classroom, inspiring students to express themselves, persevere through challenges and celebrate both their own achievements and the successes of others.

🎨 What is your favourite thing to teach and why?
My favourite subject to teach is Visual Arts because I love seeing students bring their ideas to life. It gives them the freedom to be creative, experiment with different techniques and express themselves in their own unique way.

🌱 What does a successful learner look like to you?
A successful learner is someone who approaches learning with a positive mindset and is always willing to give things a go. They embrace new challenges, show resilience and keep trying, even when something feels difficult at first. They understand that mistakes are an important part of learning and use them as opportunities to grow. A successful learner also takes pride in their progress, celebrates their achievements and takes an active role in their own learning journey.

👏 What is one classroom value that is particularly important to you?
One classroom value that is particularly important to me is celebrating each other and our successes. I want students to feel proud of their own achievements while also recognising and encouraging the achievements of others. Whether it is a big milestone or a small improvement, every win deserves to be acknowledged.

We’re so grateful for the creativity, encouragement and positive mindset Mrs Albano brings to our school community, helping students believe in themselves and celebrate every step of their learning journey!

🌟Spotlight on Learning – 6A 🌏🔬
Thinking Like Scientists!

6A have been investigating the question, How does human activity affect the Earth’s climate?” as part of their Science learning.

Students have explored how activities such as transport, agriculture, deforestation and urbanisation can increase greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. They have also investigated the greenhouse effect and how increased greenhouse gases can trap more heat, contributing to rising temperatures and changes to our climate.

Last week, 6A put their scientific inquiry skills to the test with a hands-on investigation using different food scraps. Students developed a testable question and hypothesis, identified variables and conducted a fair test before carefully observing and recording the amount of gas produced by each type of food scrap.

Through this investigation, students strengthened their skills in fair testing, data collection and scientific reasoning, while making connections between everyday human activities and their impact on our planet.

It has been fantastic to see 6A questioning, predicting, observing and evaluating like real scientists! 🌏🧪✨
