From detailed artworks to bold and imaginative creations, our students have put so much thought, effort and creativity into their work. 🖌️🎨

Celebrating Book Week – KDC Shadow Judges

On Friday, 21 August, our KDC Shadow Judges celebrated the announcement of the 2026 CBCA Book of the Year Awards.

A huge congratulations to our Shadow Judges: Aagnya (8Y2), Carter (7Y2), Emily (7R2), Grace (7Y2), Haolin (7R2) and Josephine (7Y2). After reading, discussing and judging the shortlisted books, our students selected We Saw What You Started by Carla Salmon as their favourite. Although it did not take out the overall award, our second choice, Unhallowed Halls by Lili Wilkinson, was named an Honour Book, which was a wonderful result!

To celebrate all their hard work, the students enjoyed a pizza lunch and received their CBCA Shadow Judging certificates and pins in recognition of their commitment and enthusiasm throughout the program.

Thank you to all our Shadow Judges for making this year's program such a wonderful experience. I hope you have all enjoyed the journey of reading, discussing and debating the books, even if choosing a winner wasn't always easy!
We hope to see you all back again next year for another year of Shadow Judging!

This week, we are proud to celebrate the learning, growth and achievements of our students during Celebration of Learning Week.

Throughout the week, students will have the opportunity to showcase their work, reflect on their progress and share the incredible learning experiences they've had this year. It's a wonderful chance to recognise the dedication, creativity and resilience our students demonstrate every day.

The school is pleased to announce that the Student Eyecare Program will be running at the school in Term 4, 2026. An optometrist will be onsite during school hours to provide students with a free comprehensive eye examination that is covered through Medicare Australia.

1 in 6 students have eye conditions that go undetected. This is due to the high level of visual demand on their eyes from books, laptops, tablets and smartphones. Every student will receive a full report about their eye health and a prescription will be provided if glasses are required.
