Feeling very blessed to have Jane Hardwicke Collings endorse the book!
'One of the necessary and worthy missions of our time is to reclaim feminine knowledge, wisdom and power and co-create a positive menstrual cycle culture.
This beautifully written story by Coreen Ipsen is part of that.
Coreen describes the menstrual cycle with all its beauty and transformational powers as she speaks through the Mother and Aunties to young Rose as she approaches her menarche.
This story is a wonderful way to introduce the menstrual cycle and womanhood with all the magic, the transformational opportunities, and healing and responsibilities to girls and young women, and their mothers. For we know that the information that most women have about the menstrual cycle is not good and not helpful.
Every girl is hardwired to expect that her Mother and Auntie’s will teach her about her body and the menstrual cycle and welcome her to womanhood with honour, respect and celebration.
This story - Rose and the Awakening Goddess - will help mothers do that.
Girls who are welcomed to womanhood in the way Rose is in this story will move through their adult life resourced with the information about how their body works and how to work with their menstrual cycle.
Young women who have this information will be more connected with their body and nature, aware of the messages their body gives them for self-care requirements.
This is the kind of information that we are meant to begin womanhood with.
Another thing I love about this story is that it outlines the need to teach younger children about the menstrual cycle as they are growing up, to normalise it, and especially to teach boy children about the needs of a woman during her cycle.
Thank you Coreen and thank you to the Mothers, Aunties and Dads who participate in this necessary revolution to reclaim this important and power-full rite of passage for our girls.'
