If you are autistic or know anyone who is, I would really appreciate it if you considered participating in this research project.

As most of you know, one of my biggest passions in life is having autistic people involved in autism research as Malcom is doing with this project, being an autistic researcher.

Malcolm Campbell, a Macquarie University Master of Research student, is looking for Autistic adults to participate in a project exploring identity formation and community experiences of Autistic people in social media spaces.

Participating in this study involves a one on one interview (approximately 30 minutes) conducted either online or in person at Macquarie University. Interviewees will receive a $30 gift card.

You can find out more on the study website: https://autismsocialmediaproject.wordpress.com/

Please note this is not a project being run by Autism MQ, so please get in contact with the researchers via the website if you have any questions.

"Are you an autistic adult that uses social media?

We're looking for people like you to take part in a research project that will explore how being a social media user has helped you understand and challenge your identity.

Chose participants will take part in a 30-minute interview either over Zoom or in-person at a time that works for you. All participants will receive a $30 gift card after the interview as recognition of participation.

To find out more about the project, go the https://autismsocialmediaproject.wordpress.com/ and register your interest."

I’ve been working recently with some my students on script writing, as I find it helps build confidence to read aloud, as well as strengthening sentence structure, as the child will often notice that a sentence needs improving once they read it aloud.

Just some of the many ways I draw on my lived experience being a neurodiverse student to help support children who struggle to learn and retain information through typical teaching methods.

I currently have only 1 session left on Wednesdays, so contact me now to secure your child’s spot!

As an autistic person, I understand how it feels to be sitting in the classroom, feeling isolated, like I’m the only one who doesn’t understand what the teacher is saying. I get how it feels to read new information over and over before it finally ‘sticks’ in my brain. I know what it’s like to receive homework that is totally unstructured, confusing and completely overwhelming.

It is because of these lived experiences that I have a strong desire to help children who are experiencing similar obstacles to the ones I did when I was in primary school.

Whether it is breaking down a homework task into manageable chunks, or learning multiplication through song and movement, I will continue to work with the child to find a way to support their learning in a way that works for their unique spirit.
