Check out some of the initiatives coming through the Great Southern Universities Centre.
Last week’s Classroom Management workshop, delivered in collaboration with the Department of Education, supported preservice and early career teachers with practical skills in an area that’s often needed early on.

It’s a good example of the range of opportunities available across the region, with students from Katanning able to access and attend programs like this as part of their study journey.

In partnership with GROW, the Great Southern Universities Centre is offering the Growing Resilience program for our student community across Albany, Denmark and Katanning.

We’ve updated the program dates, and registrations are still open.

This is a free 6 week online program designed to support mental wellbeing through life’s everyday challenges.

Across six one-hour Zoom sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Share experiences in a safe, supportive and confidential environment
• Learn practical strategies to cope, recover and build resilience
• Connect with others who understand what you’re going through

Program Details:
• Dates: Tuesdays, 14 April – 19 May
• Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
• Location: Online (Zoom)
• Facilitated by experienced GROW program workers

You’re welcome to join as many sessions as you can, with no pressure to attend every week.

Big thank you to the all the people involved to create the Harmony that was last Friday's Katanning Harmony Festival at the all ages playground.

Especially everyone from the Katanning Business & Community Hub and the Shire of Katanning for all the hard work and planning, the vendors, stalls, performers and many, many more to make this event work.

We loved seeing you all down there enjoying the evening, thank you for making the effort and supporting our community!

🎉 Harmony Night – Tomorrow in Katanning🎉

Harmony Night is back tomorrow, bringing the community together for an afternoon and evening of food, music and activities for all ages.

The Katanning Study Hub, alongside Great Southern Universities Centre, is proud to support this event and be part of something that brings people together across our community.

It’s always great to see events like this creating connection across the region, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone there.

This Friday, join us at the All Ages Playground for the Harmony Festival. Enjoy food vans, market stalls, a skate event, silent disco, family and youth zones, live entertainment and more.

🥕 Great Southern community conversation – food access

Edith Cowan University are hosting a series of community sessions across the Central Great Southern to talk about improving access to healthy food and exploring the idea of a local food hub in Katanning.

Sessions are being held in Kojonup, Gnowangerup, Tambellup and Katanning over the coming week.

If you’re interested in community wellbeing, local food initiatives or just keen to be part of the conversation, you’re welcome to attend.

🎓 University Roadshow in Katanning

A big thank you to the universities who travelled to Katanning yesterday to connect with our local students, and to Katanning Senior High School for hosting.

It was fantastic to see students engaging directly with representatives, asking questions, and exploring what their next steps after school could look like. Opportunities like this make a real difference in helping regional students see what is possible.

We appreciate the time and effort it takes to bring these conversations to our community.

The Study Hub is always here to support students as they take those next steps, whether that’s applying, enrolling, or settling into study.

🌾 AgriBalance+ Workshop | Katanning

We’re pleased to help share this upcoming opportunity with our local ag community.

AgriBalance+ is a practical, one-day workshop designed specifically for people involved in agriculture. It focuses on building confidence around mental health, understanding how ongoing pressure can impact individuals, families and businesses, and providing practical tools to recognise risk and respond appropriately.
