There are a lot of new changes happening to ensure we are providing a child safe environment. One of these changes is a record of all staff, committee, volunteers and students of the centre on a National Workers Register.

National Early Childhood Worker Register

The new national Worker Register for early childhood education and care workers is launching on Friday 27 February 2026.
Approved providers must enter who is working in their services, and keep it up to date.

Regulatory authorities will use the Worker Register to identify who is working in ECEC services and where, helping them monitor and respond to risks.

For requirements, guidance and system information, visit ACECQA.

Congratulations to the Carpentaria Shire Award winners for Australia Day. We have some truly wonderful deserving people in our community.
Thank you to the Carpentaria Shire Council for asking the Childrens Centre to cook the breakfast.
A massive thank you to our volunteers, Glen and Alicia (our BBQ chefs), Sheryl, Jacky and Bronwyn. And a special thank you to Candice for having everything organised for us which made our workload easy.

The wet season! Our favourite time of the year. Unfortunately, it does bring challenges as well and we have to think outside the box to make things work. And this is what has been happening for the last week to get organised to open. We extend our heartfelt thanks to TERRY for volunteering to mow our yard (since our mower died), to JACK BAWDEN for organising essential parts for repairs, and RAY for doing the repairs. This year we are excited to have new staff members who are a welcome addition to our team.
Don’t forget, we run a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten program that is free if you child turns 4 by June 30th this year. Here’s to a great 2026!

Today was our last day for 2025 and now for a well earned break. Thank you to everyone who supported us over the year - there are so many people who keep this small centre functioning. To our families - thank you for letting us be a part of your child's learning journey. We have had many special and memorable moments this year.
We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and enjoy spending time together with family and friends. We re-open on the 12th January 2026 but the phone will be manned during the break (0747 459 175).

16-27 June. We have added more new resources to our centre. All our resources have been purchased from our fundraising/donations monies and we are extremely grateful for all the support. There have been so many choices for our tabletop activities from magnets to painting and pegboards to gluing. Being outside fills up most of our days and we have a new climbing frame which has been a great addition to our yard.
