🎭 Tournament of Minds – Regional Division! 🎭

Today, our incredible Tournament of Minds - WA team took on the long term and spontaneous challenges, putting their creativity, problem-solving skills and teamwork to the test in The Arts category! 🌟

We are so proud of the way they have embraced the challenge, worked collaboratively and thought outside the box. What an amazing opportunity to stretch their thinking, showcase their talents and represent our school with such enthusiasm and confidence. 💙

Second place and first rate! 🎤 Congratulations to one of our amazing Year 6 students, who took out runner up in the Catenian Association's Speak for Faith Public Speaking Competition.

We would also like to congratulate another one of our Year 6 students who competed tremendously in the earlier rounds.

Year 5 and 6 students from WA Catholic schools each prepared a three minute speech on the teachings of Jesus, and our students delivered theirs with poise, courage and plenty of heart. A very proud OLGC moment.

Seeds of Science Week have well and truly sprouted 🌱 Our students have been building, tinkering and problem solving their way through the week, with Lego towers and block creations popping up in every corner. The star of the show was paper making, led by our Environmental Ministry and Mrs Preston with our classroom teachers on pulp duty. Soggy hands, big ideas and a whole lot of recycled paper. Science is everywhere at OLGC!

This week our Year 2 students welcomed our parish seniors into the classroom to share artefacts from years gone by. The students discovered how much has changed, and how much has stayed the same.

Part 2 from last week's Science Week and the atmosphere was electric ⚡

Our students explored everything from deep ocean to deep space, with detours through volcanoes, weather systems, robotics and the odd insect. Some looked to the past, some to the future, all of them curious. We are absolutely in our element ⭐

Captain's Logs at the ready!

Earlier this week, Year 4 set sail for Fremantle to explore the Shipwreck Gallery and Maritime Museum as part of our Age of Exploration unit. They heard tales of life at sea, daring voyages and the shipwrecks scattered along our coastline, then took to the galleries in crews to investigate artefacts up close. Some discoveries were fascinating, others were a little bit spooky, and every single one brought their classroom learning to life. What a treasure of a day! ⚓️
