Yesterday we proudly celebrated our 3rd Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day event in Kapunda! 🖤💛❤️
Our Town Square came alive with four education sites coming together, where children explored, created and connected through Ngadjuri culture. There was something for everyone, including:
🌿 Badge making
🧵 Bracelet making
🦎 Wilba’s Wildlife animal encounters
🎨 Australian scratch art
💃 Warrior dance with Aunty Violet
📚 Story and song time with Sophie from the Kapunda Library
In the afternoon, we continued our learning through action by revegetating a site near the mines, planting 250 native plants, including Peppermint Box tree saplings—a tree of great cultural significance to the Ngadjuri people. 🌱
A heartfelt thank you to Aunty Mel and Aunty Violet for your generosity, wisdom and guidance. Your knowledge continues to enrich our Kapunda learning community and helps us walk together on our reconciliation journey through education.
We also extend our thanks to the Kapunda High School Aboriginal learners, whose enthusiasm and leadership helped make the day such a wonderful success.
