🎤 Year 5 Slam Poetry Finals! 🎤

Year 5 have been learning all about slam poetry this term, developing their writing skills, finding their voice and learning how to perform poetry with confidence and expression.

This week, we held our Slam Poetry Finals, adjudicated by Mr Moxon, Mrs McPhan and Mrs Sims.

A huge well done to all of our participants! The poems were thoughtful, powerful and incredibly well performed, exploring important real-world issues such as pollution, equal rights, war, racism and protecting our planet.

Congratulations to our winners and runners-up on their fantastic achievements! 👏🌟

🏴‍☠️ Ahoy, mateys! Our Kindy crew celebrated Talk Like a Pirate Day with a treasure hunt. Students worked as a team to solve puzzles, tackle challenges, and even meet some pirates. At the final stop our crew finally dug up the hidden treasure and each brave explorer got to take home their own piece of pirate loot!

⭐ Stage 2 Incursion ⭐

🎬 Stage 2 students became nature documentary filmmakers! Working in pairs, they planned, filmed, and edited their own documentaries around the school, learning how visuals, narration, and sound bring stories to life. We were so impressed by their creativity and teamwork. Such a fantastic incursion exploring our natural world! 🌿

⭐ Spotlight On: Year 6 ⭐

Year 6 had a fantastic visit from Wadalba High School for their Science Day! The children took part in a STEM challenge where each group aimed to build the tallest stack of 50 cups. The tricky part ... they couldn’t use their hands! Instead, they worked together, using string and a rubber band to move the cups. It was a great day of teamwork, creativity, and fun!

6 Trudgeon has been determining the volume of unsymmetrical objects using displacement measuring techniques. In groups, the students have used a variety of objects and placed them in measuring cylinders. The students then record the change in water levels. Using the formula (Volume of the object = Final volume - Initial volume) students can now determine the volume of the unsymmetrical object.
