Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to advise families that school operations will continue as normal on Wednesday 19 August.

The Department of Education has confirmed that the planned industrial action for Wednesday will no longer proceed following an in-principle agreement between the Department and the Australian Education Union (AEU).

As a result, all classes, bus services and school activities will operate as usual.

2026 Parent / Carer Opinion Survey:

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CARERS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / carers who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.

🎟️ **Support Our Local Youth!** 🎟️
Our VCEVM students will be out the front of Doyle's IGA on Friday afternoon, selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the Youth at the 2026 Kaniva Show.
🎫 Tickets are just $1 each, so if you're in town, stop by and show your support!
Every ticket purchased helps support our local youth and the future of the Kaniva Show.
Thank you for your generosity – we really appreciate your support! 😊

📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR FAMILIES

We are providing families with early notice regarding a possible industrial action day on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.

The Department of Education has presented a revised Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) offer, which is currently being considered by AEU members. Members have until 10.00am on Monday, 17 August to consider the offer.

If the offer is supported, the proposed stop-work action on Wednesday, 19 August will not proceed.

If the action does proceed, there may be an impact on our ability to provide normal classes and supervision at school, and this may result in changes to our usual school operations.

We will provide families with a further update on Monday once the outcome is known.

We wanted to provide this early notice so families have time to make any necessary arrangements should classes be affected.
