📣 CLEANERS WANTED – KANGAROO VALLEY

JOSS are currently recruiting cleaners for the Kangaroo Valley area, with Kangaroo Valley Public School one of the local sites they manage.

🧹 KVPS Hours: 4 hours per day
There is flexibility for these hours to be worked as:

4 hours in the morning
4 hours in the afternoon, or
2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon

This could be a great opportunity for someone local looking for regular, flexible work close to home.

🏈 Flag Football Fun! 🏈

Our Year 4/5/6 students have been putting their speed, teamwork and strategy to the test with flag football!

There was plenty of running, passing, dodging and defending as students learnt the skills and rules of the game while working together as a team. Flag football is a fantastic way to build fitness, coordination and communication — and judging by the action on the field, there was plenty of fun along the way too!

We love seeing our students getting active, trying new sports and developing their skills together. 🌟🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Kangaroo Valley Public School Book Week Character Street Parade

Students will take to the street dressed as their favourite book characters as we celebrate Book Week 2026 and our love of reading.

📏 How big is a square metre? Our Year 3 students put their maths skills to the test today—on a very large scale!

Students estimated and measured the area of our sandpit, playing fields, new sports court and more. There was plenty of measuring, calculating, teamwork and mathematical thinking as they discovered just how much space fits inside a square metre—and how many square metres fit inside our school grounds!

Who knew maths could cover so much ground? 📐🧮

🔬🌿 Adapting to Survive – Science in 4/5/6! 👍

Years 4, 5 and 6 have begun an exciting new Science unit, Adapting to Survive, exploring how living things adapt to survive in their environments.

This week, we asked: just how useful are our opposable thumbs? 🤔

Students completed everyday tasks like tying shoelaces, zipping jackets, picking up coins and writing their name — first with their thumbs, then without them, timing each attempt. ⏱️

Of course, a good experiment needs to be fair! Students considered the variables they needed to keep the same, carefully recorded their results and then graphed their data to compare how long each task took with and without the use of their thumbs. 📊

The difference was huge! Without thumbs, simple tasks became much harder and slower, leading to lots of laughter and determination. 😅

A fun and eye-opening start to our unit, showing just how important this small adaptation really is! 🧪🌏

A huge thank you to every KVPS family who joined us for our Education Week celebrations today! 💙💛

It was wonderful to welcome you into our classrooms, share our fantastic Book Fair and showcase the incredible science dioramas created by our students.

Our school was filled with proud smiles, excited conversations and a real sense of community. We are so grateful for the ongoing support and enthusiasm of our families—it is what makes KVPS such a special place to learn, work and belong.
