The fans waiting in line at the signing are played by the people who made the show: showrunner Matthew B. Roberts, executive producers Maril Davis and Toni Graphia, and longtime crew. The finale handed the team their own cameo as the fans who showed up for the books before any of it existed.

Balfe has played Claire Fraser for 12 years across 8 seasons. The post-credits scene was her first time directing for the show.

A fan asks Gabaldon to sign a third copy for her daughter, Karen. The Karen is real. She has run the Outlandish Observations blog since 2006 and moderates Gabaldon's official forum.

Season 8 was the final season of the flagship series. The prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, follows Jamie's parents and premiered in August 2025.

Gabaldon is still writing the 10th main-series novel, working title A Blessing for a Warrior Going Out. Book 9, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, came out in November 2021.
