🏃‍♀️Interschool Cross Country Event🏃
This week was the Oceanside East Cross Country event, held at Craigie Heights PS. It was a super tough course, but every member of the incredible Springfield PS team showed determination, resilience and strength to complete the course in style! Congratulations to every single competitor...you were amazing! A special congratulations to our podium winners, well done!
Springfield PS came 4th, which is an incredible result against some tough competition.

🔬National Science Week - Free Microscope Adventure for Kids🔬
To celebrate National Science Week, Binocentral are inviting local families to join them for a FREE Hands-On Microscope Adventure for Kids & Families on Saturday, 15 August!

National Science Week is all about celebrating science, technology and discovery and Binocentral want to give young explorers the chance to experience science for themselves.
During this fun and interactive one-hour session, children will get hands-on with microscopes and discover an incredible hidden world that’s normally too small to see.

Young scientists will have the chance to:

• Examine fascinating bugs up close
• Explore the hidden details inside rocks and minerals
• Take part in fun microscope activities
• Discover everyday objects from a completely new perspective

Designed especially for primary school-aged children and their families, no previous experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity!

📕NAIDOC Week Area 8 - Children's Literature📕
Kaya! The Year 5 and 6 students practised reading aloud in preparation for sharing an Aboriginal author’s picture book with our pre-primary buddies. Aboriginal authors share important stories, cultures and perspectives through their picture books. These books help readers learn about Country, family, history and the rich traditions of Aboriginal peoples. By reading and celebrating Aboriginal picture books, we can develop a deeper understanding and respect for the world's oldest living culture

⚫️🟡🔴NAIDOC Assembly - Week 11⚫️🟡🔴
In Week 11, Springfield PS held our NAIDOC Assembly. This was a powerful opportunity for all classrooms to share the learning that has taken place around the themes NAIDOC Week and Aboriginal culture. Our assembly ended with a beautiful Soundscape to accompany the Dreamtime Story of The Rainbow Serpent, performed by Area 8. Thank you to all classes for highlighting the wonderful learning that has taken part across the school.

🎧CTRL DJ School - Silent Disco🎧
In Week 11 our DJ program came to a close with a Silent Disco! Our Year 5 and 6 students hit the decks to demonstrate the new skill they have learnt throughout the program. It was a brilliant event, with the dancefloor full from start to finish. Congratulations to our amazing Year 5 and 6 DJ stars!
A big thank you to the Springfield Primary School P&C for your support in running the event.
A huge thank you to Miss T from CTRL DJ School! Our students have come away with many new skills, ready to create their own music!

🚓Area 2 - Police Visit🚓
Area 2 have been learning about rules and laws in our community. We were delighted when two members of the police force came and answered our questions. The students were fascinated with the special equipment they carried and why their uniforms were a different colour. It was a real life experience that the students will never forget. Thank you to Police officer Jay and Scott for making the time to speak to our Year 3 students.

🪩Silent Disco - Monday 29 June🪩
Throughout Term 2, our Year 5 and 6 students have participated in an incredible music program 'CTRL DJ School' to learn the skills of creating and mixing electronic music. To celebrate all of the learning that has taken place, Springfield PS is holding a Silent Disco, supported by the Springfield P&C.
Session times:
Year 1 to 2 - 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Year 3 to 6 - 4:30 to 5:45pm

Our Kindy and Pre Primary students will enjoy the Silent Disco during school hours.
