A huge CONGRATULATIONS to our lucky LEAD Expo Passport winners!

We loved seeing so many of our students and families getting involved in the LEAD Expo, exploring classrooms, discovering new learning and collecting stamps along the way.

As a special prize, our winners will have their 2027 Student Resource Scheme fully covered!

That includes their iPad, stationery and books, a fantastic prize to help set them up for a successful year of learning!

Prep 2027 Enrolment are Open! If you have a child born between 29th June 2021 and 28th June 2022 and you live in our catchment area, then they are eligible for Prep in 2027. We have started our interviews and our Prep 2027 Transition programme starts on 16th October 2026. Enrol as soon as possible so you do not miss out on the transition opportunities.

🌏🦎 5B students researched invasive animals in Australia and explored the impact they had on our ecosystems and environment.

Students researched their chosen invasive animal, wrote an information report and then took their learning one step further by designing a solution using MicroBits 🤖

Depending on the impact of their animal, students designed technology based solutions to either capture invasive animals or help protect them.

It was fantastic to see students combine research, literacy, science, problem-solving and coding to tackle a real-world environmental challenge! 🐸💡

LEAD Expo 2026 🎉

Yesterday, Kallangur State School proudly hosted our LEAD Expo, a day dedicated to sharing the amazing work happening across our school through a blended learning environment that uses technology purposefully to enhance teaching and engage students.

We welcomed over 100 guests from 45 schools to attend teacher led workshops and participate in classroom walkthroughs showcasing learning in action.

The afternoon was a wonderful opportunity for families to visit their child’s classroom and see what they have been working on. Families were also invited to explore other year levels, connect with teachers and discover some of our specialist areas, including Sustainability, Music, The Space and the Library.

We are incredibly proud of our students and staff and the learning they shared throughout the day. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make LEAD Expo such a success! 👏💙

It was lovely today to have a visit from a group of ladies that started their school journey together at Kallangur SS in 1956. They have remained good friends over the years, and they reached out to see if they could visit the place their friendship started 70 years ago. We organised a personal tour and it was wonderful to hear them all retelling stories from all that time ago, like it was yesterday.

🧚‍♀️🍞 Tasty learning in Prep G! 🍞🧚‍♀️

Prep G has been busy learning about procedural writing by following the steps involved in making a favourite treat, fairy bread! 🌈✨

The students learnt how to sequence the steps, then put their learning into writing by creating their own procedures explaining how to make fairy bread.

And, of course, the best part was getting to eat it! 😋

🐉 Godzilla Rises! 🐉

No, not the latest blockbuster in the movie franchise… but good news nonetheless! 🎬

After more than two months in brumation — the reptile equivalent of hibernation — our bearded dragon, Godzilla, is finally starting to get active again! ☀️

During brumation, Godzilla’s breathing and heart rate slowed down significantly, and he spent most of his time sleeping. Until last Thursday, he hadn’t eaten a thing for over two months! 😮

As the weather gets warmer and the daylight hours get longer, Godzilla will gradually become more active and start eating more.

Welcome back, Godzilla! We’ve missed seeing you on the move! 🦎💚

🌟 Learning in action in Prep F! 🌟

Can you believe these learners are only five years old?!

Prep F have been using Padlet to independently upload their work, demonstrate their understanding of a concept, and share their learning with others. They can then receive feedback from their teacher and their peers, helping them reflect on what they have done and celebrate their learning. 💻✨

It is with great sadness that we let you know that our beautiful therapy dog Sassy passed away peacefully on the 28th July. We send our love to Donna and Sassy’s sister Xena! Thank you for your kindness and friendship Sassy! You will be missed by all of us at Kallangur State School 🌈🐾🌈🐾🌈
