There’s nothing quite like learning and playing outdoors! Outdoor play gives children the opportunity to explore, discover, create, and build confidence while enjoying the fresh air and natural environment.

Whether they’re running, climbing, imagining, or simply observing the world around them, outdoor experiences support physical development, social skills, problem-solving, and overall wellbeing. Most importantly, it’s a chance for children to have fun, make memories, and embrace the joy of being active!

At Kindy, we love making the most of our outdoor spaces and watching our children learn through play every day.

The Importance of Imaginative Play

Imaginative play is so much more than fun and games. Through pretending, creating and exploring, children develop important skills such as problem-solving, communication, creativity and emotional understanding.

Whether they're running a café, exploring outer space, or caring for a baby doll, children are learning about the world around them while building confidence and independence.

Friendships & Role Play

There’s nothing quite like watching friendships grow through play! Through role play, our little learners practise sharing, taking turns, using their imaginations, and working together. From cafés to home corners and everything in between, special friendships are formed while learning valuable social skills along the way.

**How to Cut Down on Screen Time After School Holidays**

If you’re looking to help kids reduce their screen time after school holidays, here are some friendly tips to make it easier:

1. Set Clear Screen Time Limits: Try creating daily or weekly limits for screen use. After those long holidays, it’s easy for kids to spend more time in front of screens.

2. Encourage Fun Offline Activities: Swap out screen time for exciting activities like reading, playing sports outside, or exploring creative hobbies. There’s so much fun to be had away from screens!

3. Create Screen-Free Zones: Designate special areas in your home where screens are off-limits—like bedrooms or the dinner table. It helps keep the focus on family time and relaxation.

4. Lead by Example: Show how you balance your own screen time. When kids see you enjoying other activities, they're more likely to follow your lead.

5. Talk About It: Have open discussions about how too much screen time can affect health and well-being. Kids are more likely to understand when they know the reasons behind it!

By using these friendly strategies, you can help kids build healthier screen habits and enjoy their time after school holidays even more!
