Mental Health Expo

Our EGC students came together for our annual Mental Health Expo, creating space to learn, connect and have important conversations.

Health students presented stalls on a range of Mental Health topics, sharing their knowledge with their peers and engaging in a variety of wellbeing activities.

A huge thank you to our students and staff who contributed to making the expo such a massive success.

School can be a real battle sometimes!

Mainly on ‘Staff V Students Tug of War Challenge’ day. It was a blistering display of dominance for the Staff this year with students unable to match their strength. We’re putting it down to Mr Zahwe’s pre pull pep talk and his explanation of the physics behind how to win. Whatever the reason, staff were pretty chuffed to take the dub. 🏆

Our Year 11 and 12 PE Students enjoyed a sensational morning at the Kalgoorlie Golf Course. It was a great opportunity for the students to learn some basic techniques and enjoyed some friendly competition along the way. The course is looking absolutely fantastic as it gets ready to welcome the PGA, making it the perfect backdrop for our lessons. Thank you for hosting us and sharing your expertise.

🌏 Year 11 Earth & Environmental Science - Out in the Field

Our Year 11 Earth & Environmental Science students recently took their learning to the field, exploring the geological history of the Goldfields on their excursion to the Joe Lord Core Library in Broadwood and Mount Hunt.

Students examined core samples that provided a fascinating insight into the geological history beneath our region. They then headed to Mount Hunt for a hands-on field study of igneous rocks, putting their classroom knowledge into practice while investigating the landscape around them.

A huge thank you to Jo Watkins from Earth Science Education for guiding our students throughout the day and sharing her expertise, as well as AngloGold Ashanti Australia and Minerals Research Institute of WA for their support👏

How lovely for our Deputy - Learning Environment and HR, Vicki Bogensperger and her family to catch up with Minister for Education, Sabine Winton MLA recently. A family of passionate educators sharing stories across their many years of education service.

Talk about keeping it all in the family!

What a privilege to sit down over dinner at Parliament with this gorgeous crew.

That included Kath Hannam and Donnah Francome — Pre-Primary teachers at Rockingham Lakes Primary School — who I had met at the SSTUWA Early Years Conference.

Kath rounded up her family (mum, sisters and daughters) to sit with me.

What a privilege to hear all things education from their contexts and considerable experience. ✨
