🌱 KBULG's Annual Tree Planting Day 🌱
A fantastic Sunday morning spent with GUDRH staff and students supporting this amazing community initiative. Focused on environmental sustainability, the event saw approx. 3,000 native seedlings planted across the Wittenoom Street Bushland Reserve. A great excuse to get outdoors, brave the chilly weather, and give back to our local community 💚

We're excited to welcome two nationally recognised leaders in rural health who will bring valuable insights, practical experience and a shared passion for strengthening the rural health workforce.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗠: National Rural Health Commissioner, rural GP, educator and researcher, with more than 35 years' experience championing rural, regional and remote healthcare across Australia. Her keynote address will offer a national perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing the rural health workforce.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀: Head of the Rural Clinical School at Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health and a registered nurse, researcher and health leader. Professor Jones will share insights into place-based workforce development, including reflections on the Anabranch Framework and how communities, services and education providers can work together to support long-term rural health outcomes.

The Goldfields Winter Seminar 2026 will bring together health, social care, education and community leaders to explore how place-based education, strong partnerships and community connection can strengthen workforce sustainability across the Goldfields.

Earlier this week we officially welcomed another 18 students to the GUDRH, who all completed their full day, Goldfields-specific orientation session. Our newest cohort comprises 8 x Oral Health Therapy, 1 x Exercise Physiology, and 2 x Occupational Therapy students from Curtin University, as well as 7 x Nursing students from Edith Cowan University (ECU) and The University of Notre Dame Australia.

GUDRH staff, Tyrone and Andrew, recently attended the Goldfields Men’s Health Conference, an important community event hosted by the Goldfields Community Legal Centre Inc. focused on strengthening men’s health, wellbeing and connection across the region. The conference brought together local voices, practical resources and honest conversations around mental health, physical wellbeing, resilience and support for men in the Goldfields.

Ex-Australian Paralympian and Mental Health Ambassador Liam Twomey delivered a meaningful keynote address, alongside accomplished motivational speaker, Daniel Merza, who shared his “Get the Monkeys off Your Back” framework. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with community partners and continue learning about the challenges and strengths that shape health and wellbeing in our region.

🥐 💬 The GUDRH recently hosted a three-part Breakfast Series, bringing together 19 local allied health professionals to connect, share insights and explore solutions to workforce challenges in the Goldfields. Conversations focused on strengthening student placement opportunities and building ongoing collaboration through a local Community of Practice.

It was encouraging to see so many passionate clinicians in the room, all contributing to the health and wellbeing of the community. 🫶🐜 GUDRH staff and students came together during National Reconciliation Week to connect, learn and reflect through a series of meaningful cultural experiences.
