Year 5/6 Camp at Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre. What an epic adventure we had!

This camp was designed to build confidence through challenge and that’s exactly what it did! The weather was definitely not on our side but this made the success in these conditions even more rewarding. In the cold, rainy and windy weather students canoed across the lake, tackled a 10-metre abseil wall and worked together during the raft build and crate stack.

A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers Doug Greenall and Kat Morphy. Their hardwork, patience and positivity was so appreciated. Thank you also to Chappy Deb and Miss Tamara and Mr May for helping during the nights.

Lastly, a special thank you to Colleen, our TEEC leader, who can handle any challenge - always with a funny story to tell.

Most of all, congratulations to our year 5/6 students for being willing to give everything a go, for getting along with each other so well and just being great campers. What an adventure and what wonderful memories made. 😊😊

A big thank you to Atherton Men’s Shed, Woolworths Atherton and Containers for Change for welcoming our Year 2/3 students!

Students learnt what recycled containers can become, how Woolworths manages unused products and how timber can be reused to create something amazing.

Thank you for helping our students learn how we can reduce waste, recycle and reuse! 🌱

📚✨Book Week Parade! ✨📚

What an amazing Book Week Parade we had! Our students looked absolutely fantastic, bringing their favourite book characters to life with some truly creative and colourful costumes. 📖🌈

Thank you to all our wonderful parents and carers for helping their children put together amazing costumes and for getting behind the fun of Book Week. And to our staff, who always go the extra mile to put on a good show! We know these costumes take plenty of time, creativity and effort! 💕👏

It’s time to get your best 80’s gear ready!

We are excited to once again be taking part in the Maize Festival Street Parade on Saturday 29 August, and we would love to see as many Kairi State School families as possible joining us!

📍 Meeting Point: IGA Car Park – towards the back, near the Carrington Pub area
⏰ Meeting Time: 5:30pm onwards (look out for our school staff and P&C volunteers)
🎉 Parade Starts: 6:30pm
✨ Glow Sticks – The P&C will be providing glow sticks for the kids to add a little extra sparkle! ✨

There will also be plenty happening around town beforehand:

🎨 Face Painting – FNQ Whole Foods, Main Street, 4:30pm – 7:30pm
🍬 Lolly Blast – Prior’s Creek at 5:00pm
So, dig out those leg warmers, bright colours, denim, scrunchies and 80’s outfits and come along for a fun night celebrating our local community! 🌽🎶
