Today, on Principal’s Day, We would like to recognise and celebrate the exceptional leadership of our principal, Daniela Lawlor. Daniela’s unwavering commitment to the Wallaroo Mines Primary School community has shaped a positive, supportive, and inspiring environment for both staff and students.
Her dedication and vision have made our school a place where learning and growth are valued, and each individual is encouraged to reach their full potential. Daniela consistently leads with empathy, professionalism, and creativity, making a lasting difference in the lives of everyone here.

The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme is pleased to announce that applications for our 2026 youth development voyages aboard STS Young Endeavour are now open.

Since 1988, more than 16,000 young Australians aged 16–23 have taken part in this unique program, gaining valuable life skills while sailing Australia’s national sail training ship. In 2026, the ship will undertake its final program before the transition to a new, state-of-the-art vessel currently under construction—making this a particularly special year to get involved.

Each voyage offers an immersive and challenging experience where participants develop confidence, resilience, leadership, and teamwork skills. Crews of 24 young people from diverse backgrounds learn to sail a tall ship together—taking the helm, handling lines, navigating, keeping watch, and even climbing the 30-metre mast. Importantly, participants are disconnected from mobile phones and social media throughout the voyage, allowing them to fully engage in the experience. No prior sailing experience is required—just a willingness to learn.

The program is delivered by a professional Royal Australian Navy crew, ensuring the highest standards of safety and support while encouraging participants to achieve both personal and team goals.

Applications for first-round offers close soon, and financially assisted berths are available for eligible young people. Applications can be submitted online at:
