Jurien Bay District High School Jurien Bay District High School (DHS) is located on the Turquoise Coast 265 kilometres north of Perth and 200 kilometres south of Geraldton.

It is located in the Mid West Education District. The school caters for students from Jurien Bay, Leeman, Green Head and Cervantes and the surrounding farming districts. Two bus routes service primary and secondary students living on farms and in town-sites, in our catchment area. The school provides education programs and a supportive learning environment for a range of students from Kindergarten

to Year 12. The School continues to receive great support from community members to develop and expand our secondary courses around Marine Studies which involves boating and diving activities. The school has on -site buildings for the four-year-old Kindergarten children and for our full-time five-year-old pre-primary group. Our teachers are experienced and well supported by school based and regional support personnel. Recent feedback from our students indicates that the best things about our school are our teachers and the small class sizes which allow their teachers to get to know them and support them with their learning. The school underwent a building upgrade in 1997 with the addition of new specialist area buildings (Science laboratory, Home Economics, Information Technology Centre and Design and Technology Workshop). These facilities have been well maintained and updated and are of an excellent standard (fully air-conditioned in 2014) with our students reaping the educational benefits of working in modern and well designed learning areas. The town-site of Jurien Bay and its surrounds also provides a very stimulating learning environment and exciting learning opportunities for our students. The school has a specialist Visual Arts Centre and an opportunity for students in years 5 to 10 to participate in the Instrumental Music Program which enjoys a significant amount of support from the school community. A Police Rangers program was initiated in 1997 for secondary students and continues to be well supported. The school enjoys the strong support of a very motivated Parents and Citizens Association and a strong School Council. With the schools motto being 'Together in Learning' there is a focus on strong community relationships. The development of relationships with staff and students is a priority with mutual respect and high behavioural expectations key components in these positive relationships.

The meat has been purchased by our P&C with funds being raised to go towards things such as country week, year 6 camp, shelter for our high school kids, and teacher wish list items!!

There is plenty of budget friendly books available in this issue with 134 books priced at $10 or less and 29 books are under $5!
