Our Story
Peter Cowan Writers Centre Inc has been offering writing groups, workshops, competitions and other writing-related activities in the northern suburbs of Perth, WA for over twenty years. Our Centre is named after Peter Cowan, a celebrated West Australian short story writer, novelist and academic, and the grandson of Australia’s first female parliamentarian, Edith Cowan. Our writing activities are conducted in Edith Cowan House on ECU’s Joondalup Campus. The cottage was constructed on campus as a replica of Edith’s former home in West Perth and contains some of the house’s original features. We are a not-for-profit organisation and our Centre is run by member and community volunteers.
