Just in case you wanted another reason to be proud of these kids…

As you may have seen, our students recently sold a number of their crafty items that they had created to sell at the markets throughout the year. From your generous support they raised just under $150!

What did the kids decide to do with that money? Given total freedom to do with it as they wanted, they decided to give back in the hope they could help someone else this Christmas.

Each student had a share of the money and purchased some items they thought would be good additions to a Christmas hamper. They deliberated over every item, carefully choosing things that they thought would be needed at Christmas. Pantry staples, meal kits, drinks, nibbles, chocolates, toys – everything you’d need for a great Christmas. They ended up with a MEGA hamper. These guys can shop!

It was delivered to the lovely ladies at Vinnies in Laurieton today.

It has been an emotional last couple of days at Johns River Public School.

There have been lots of smiles, tears, laughter and wonderful memories as as we all say goodbye to students, friends and colleagues.

Year Six hosted a jam packed day yesterday that included the presentation of our end of year awards, pizza making, egg throwing, a water fight, the Year Six slideshow and finished with some moving and heartfelt speeches. There was not a dry eye in the school.

Although it was sad at times, it was still filled with laughter and smiles. It was a great end to the year.

It's award time!

To kick things off this year we have our challenge certificates as well as our swimming certificates.

Students completed the Premier's Reading Challenge, the Premier's Sporting Challenge AND Race Around Australia this year.

They also recently completed the School Swimming and Water Safety Program.

Please join us in celebrating the achievements of these great kids with a virtual round of applause.

On Friday night, these three young ladies got to celebrate the end of 7 years of primary school at their Year Six dinner. There were lots of giggles and laughs as the girls and staff reminisced over their time at Johns River Public School. They will be greatly missed!

They received a pretty amazing surprise from Leslie Williams who spoke about all three girls graduating and their achievements at a recent sitting of parliament and sent them a signed copy of the Parliamentary Hansard transcript. What a special gift!

We’d also like to thank Moo and Bean at North Haven who did everything they could to make sure the girls had a very special night.

You wouldn't know it is summer tomorrow by the weather BUT the kids are still enjoying their time at the pool for our intensive swimming program at Kendall Pool this week.

Students have been working on showing light and shade in still life drawings. Even a plain white cup with a some small leaves is quite a challenge!
