At our recent business meeting we had a very special guest attend. Richard Williams is the Past District Council Chair for Lions International and held this role on several occasions.

Richard was on hand to help welcome our 2 new members Karen and Royston. Lion Karen and Lion Royston have both jumped in recently to volunteer for the club by putting together and packing all the reading bear boxes with help from their daughters. They have also given generously their time at; our Bunnings BBQ’s and Adopt a Spot clean-up program. Welcome to our club!

Also recognised was Lion April for her 29 years of service to Lions. Thank you, April, for your commitment and dedication. Our Reading Bears Volunteers where also recognised for their work with Forest Lake State School.👏

Reading Bears now at Forest Lake State School🧸

Our club members celebrated the inaugural “Reading Bear Project” with Forest Lake State Primary School during their Teddy Bear Picnic Week. Each prep student received special presentation box containing a bear, a book, and an information sheet.

Thank you to the Forest Lake Craft Group and Lions Club members dedicated knitters who meticulously crafted bears to meet the program’s need. Thank you to the Sequeira Family for putting all the boxes together and packing them ready for the students. We would also like to thank Forest Lake Heritage Bank for providing over one hundred bags for the Reading Bear boxes to assist the prep's to look after them.

On Sunday our Lions and Leo’s Club members joined forces and collected 9 large council bags of litter along Forest Lake Boulevard and down along College Avenue past St Johns Anglican College as part of the Adopt A Spot Program. In so doing, many items were picked up that were hazardous, not only to the community but the wildlife living in the area. This initiative not only supports Lions Clubs International’s environmental challenge, but it is also a great way to enable community-minded people of all ages to work together for the common good.

St John’s Leo’s would like to say a big thank you to Forest Lake Heritage bank for approving 45 sets of gloves from a grant application. The gloves protected everyone’s hands during the cleanup event and kept us safe. And thank you to Councillor Charles Strunk Forest Lake Ward for donating 25 new litter grabbers for the members to use, making this job much easier.

Our Forest Lake Lions Club had another fantastic fundraising day at Bunnings Oxley on Saturday. Our team worked tirelessly all-day selling hundreds of sausages to the hungry visitors to Bunnings. We would like to thank all our hard-working, amazing Lions members that supported this fundraising activity and big shout out to our young St John’s College Leo’s for their volunteering efforts. Funds raised at these BBQ’s help support our local projects. 🌭
