Jacana School for Autism believes that to succeed in the world, students need to develop the capacity to:

• Manage themselves as individuals and in their relations to others.
• Understand the world in which they live and act effectively in their wider community


Jacana School for Autism provides:
• A curriculum that supports the individual needs of students, using specifi

c teaching strategies that cater to students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Individual Learning Plans to cater for specific learning needs and styles, focusing on communication, social /interpersonal skills, personal learning and academic skills.
• A safe and secure environment that enhances students’ self-esteem and respects students’ dignity.
• School wide implementation of the Positive Behaviour Support program.
• Regular participation in the wider community. Jacana School for Autism includes:
• Individual and small group instruction.
• Speech therapy consultation.
• Occupational therapy consultation.
• Psychology consultation.
• Ongoing professional development for staff.
• Programs that are informed by current research and evidence based practice.

Get ready for this year’s School Performance at Jacana School for Autism! ✨

Our 2026 School Performance is called The Myths and Legends of Jacana! 🐉

Our students are getting ready to take families on an exciting journey through the mythical land of Jacana, filled with enchanted forests, magical creatures, zombies, ogres, explorers, dragons, fairies, wizards and legendary lands.

Through music, movement and storytelling, each class will bring their own magical land to life on stage.

🎟️ Tickets are FREE!​ ​ Please log in to TryBooking and reserve your seats. We would love our families and school community to come along, support our students and celebrate all the hard work they have put into this very special whole-school performance.

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

In correspondence from the Australian Education Union, '79% of school members have voted to accept the state government’s 10 August 2026 VGSA offer, with 89% of eligible members participating in our union’s democratic decision-making process'. As a result, we wish to advise our parents/carers that the potential AEU Strike Day of Action to be held on this Wednesday, 19th August will not be going ahead. Jacana School for Autism will be operating as usual.
