🚤 STEM in action!🌊

Today’s challenge: build a boat that floats, stays afloat, and doesn’t take on water when the marble passengers climb aboard!🛶⚓️

Our engineers designed, built, tested, tweaked… and tested again! Along the way, they explored buoyancy, balance, weight and waterproofing— all while having a whole lot of fun. 🔬💡

And for those playing along at home… the greatest number of passengers was 114 ✨ 🐠 Full disclosure: no goldfish were harmed in this experiment. 😂

Yesterday, we proudly held our Fire Carrier Commissioning Ceremony 🔥

Our Fire Carriers have made a commitment to help build respect, understanding and knowledge of our shared story — a story that began on this rich land over 60,000 years ago and continues today.

Congratulations to our students on taking on this important role. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Daly for all of her work in igniting the fire of the New Dreaming of true justice, love, compassion and hope for the world today. ❤️💛🖤

May the fire continue to burn brightly within our school community. 🔥✨

Thin Green Line Day 🌿🐾

Last week, the 3/4s took part in Thing Green Line day. We learnt about the incredible work of Rangers who protect wildlife, natural environments and wild places—often putting their own lives at risk to do so. In 2025 alone, at least 147 Rangers were killed while protecting the world’s precious wildlife and environment, reminding us of the dangers these environmental heroes face.

The Thin Green Line, founded by former St Bernadette’s student Sean Willmore, supports Rangers and their families by providing training, resources, equipment and financial assistance.

Our students explored ways to protect native wildlife and the environment, learnt about reducing, reusing and recycling, cooked a healthy meal, made Joey Rescue Bags for Wildlife Victoria and rebuilt our Bug Motel with students from Parade College! 🦘🐞

A huge thank you to our SRC for organising a raffle to raise funds for the Thin Green Line and Mrs Trentin for organising such a wonderful annual day. We are proud to play our part in Protecting Nature’s Protectors. 💚🌏

Today, our Year 3/4 students stepped back in time as history came to life! ⚓️

Aboard Polly Woodside, students experienced what life was like for those aboard the First Fleet—even scrubbing the decks under duress! They then explored the stories of migration and identity with a visit to the Immigration Museum.

There’s nothing quite like getting out of the classroom to make learning meaningful. Experiences like these spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and truly bring learning to life! 📚✨

🌍✨ Our Year 5/6 students stepped inside the incredible Cosmodome for an unforgettable learning experience!

The mobile planetarium transformed our learning space into a journey through the universe, giving students the chance to explore space and Earth sciences in a fun, immersive, and interactive way. From discovering the wonders of our solar system to expanding their understanding of the world beyond our planet, the experience sparked curiosity, inspired big questions, and brought science to life.

What an amazing opportunity to learn beyond the classroom! 🚀🌟
